Rogers can have easier access to Coney Island.
Vilma comes plays as a Cover-2 MLB in a system he fits.
how has boss played recently!??!

Ernie simms is nice and I always liked Vilma they will have a nice LB trio since I've always thought with Lehman and Lenon were weak...but this doesn't bode well for their oline cus Rogers was a beast when he had his heart in it and atleast ate up blockers when he was lazy

The Minnesota Vikings are expected to be one of several teams that show an interest in New York Giants safety Gibril Wilson, according to what a league source told Scout.comג€™s Adam Caplan. After four years with the Giants, Wilson will hit the free-agent market if the Giants donג€™t get him signed to an extension.

On Saturday, Scout.com reported that the Vikings are expected to target Bengals safety Madeiu Williams as free-agent target, according to a Bengals source. On Sunday at the NFL Scouting Combine, we were told that former Bengals and current Vikings defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier had a big part in drafting Williams in 2004, the safetyג€™s first season in the league and Frazierג€™s second and last season as coordinator of the Bengals.

The Vikings have agreed in principle to trade Troy Williamson to the Jaguars in exchange for a second-day pick, according both the St. Paul Pioneer Press and Minneapolis Star-Tribune.
The first day of the draft was reduced to the first two rounds this year, so that's not really narrowing it down. Still, it'd be a shock if the Vikings get more than a conditional fifth-round pick for the drop prone wideout. Trades can't become official until free agency begins at 12:00 ET Thursday night.

Further proof that Tice picked Williamson. Several people have tried to say that Tice wanted Merriman but he has a hard on for his guys. Wiggins, Brian Williams, Angulo, and Bouman have all ended up there at one point.

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver D.J. Hackett will explore free market

FRANK HUGHES; frank.hughes@thenewstribune.com
Last updated: February 26th, 2008 06:45 AM (PST)

INDIANAPOLIS ג€“ Seattle Seahawks wide receiver D.J. Hackett is going to become an unrestricted free agent Friday, and it appears there is a good chance Hackett will not rejoin the Seahawks.
Hackettג€™s Denver-based agent, Kevin Robinson, met with Seahawks general manager Tim Ruskell and vice president of football administration John Idzik at the NFL scouting combine, and Robinson came away from the meeting seemingly discouraged by Seattleג€™s commitment to its 2004 fifth-round pick.

ג€œWe are going to test the market,ג€ Robinson said. ג€œI wonג€™t rule out Seattle as a destination, but we are going to test the market and see whatג€™s out there.ג€

Robinson declined to say what salary Hackett is seeking. Hackett made $1.3 million in 2007, though he was limited to 32 receptions in six games because he twice suffered high-ankle sprains.

In all likelihood Hackett is seeking more money because when he was healthy he was the teamג€™s starting split end. He was productive when he played, catching three touchdowns and twice gaining more than 100 receiving yards. He also had a touchdown reception against Washington in the postseason, the play that broke open the game for Seattle.

But the Seahawks find themselves in a difficult spot, in part because the $9.465 million earmarked for cornerback Marcus Trufant prevents the Seahawks from spending their money the way they want to.

ג€œTheir (salary) cap situation limits them a little bit,ג€ Robinson said.

But they also have a deep corps of receivers and probably are reticent to commit a large salary to a player such as Hackett ג€“ who has a history of injuries ג€“ even though Deion Branch likely is out for all or much of 2008 following reconstructive knee surgery.

The Seahawks like the potential of rookies Courtney Taylor and Logan Payne, and Taylor may be given the opportunity vacated by Hackett if he departs.

Hackett was given the starting split end spot opposite Branch because his 6-foot-2, 208-pound frame was a nice complement to Branchג€™s speed.

But on his first reception of the season, Hackett suffered the ankle injury, keeping him out for the next six weeks. He played four games, then aggravated the ankle injury, keeping him sidelined for another four games. Combined with Branchג€™s various injuries, the two played only six quarters together the entire season.

For his career in Seattle, Hackett has 105 catches for 1,394 yards and nine touchdowns.

This one is hard to imagine because Seattle has nothing at WR. Then again, they don't have much cap space left.

Redskins cut Brandon "hands" Lloyd

ASHBURN, Va. -- Wide receiver Brandon Lloyd was released by the Washington Redskins, ending his disappointing stay with the team.

He caught only 25 passes with no touchdowns in two seasons with the Redskins. His totals were two catches for 14 yards last season, when he broke his collarbone in November.

Lloyd already had fallen out of favor with the team because of his work ethic and lack of productivity.

The Redskins traded two draft picks to the San Francisco 49ers to acquire Lloyd before the 2006 season. They then signed him to a long-term contract that included $10 million in guaranteed money.

Eagles to trade for Larry Fitzgerald??? Noooooooooooooooooo!!!!
:ohsh: :ohsh: :ohsh: :ohsh: :ohsh:

I've been listening to AM 610 WIP in Philidelphia for the last week and there are a lot of reports by the media that the Eagles are going to be adding a huge offensive weapon. That weapon is Larry Fitgerald. The Eagles want to trade Lito Sheppard and a 2nd round or 3rd and 4th rounder for Fitz. I know everyone will say why would Fitz want to play in Phili? Well I gurantee T.O. didn't want to play in Phili originally, but if you can get a big time player via trade and are willing to pay that guy big then I don't think it matters. If the Cardinals even think about agreeing on this trade then I will be pissed that the Vikings didn't try to put together an offer for Fitz. Hell, I'd trade Winfield for Larry and a 2nd rounder. I know it will cost a lot to get Fitzgerald, but he's only 24 years old.

Okay, weג€™re a little leery right now because we swung and miss on this one back in 2006. But it looks a lot more official this time around.

A page on the Packers official web site announces that quarterback

Brett Favre Hold Out: Is He Football's Roger Clemens?

Image

Once again, NFL offseason fun begins. Tonight will open the free agency and die-hard fans abroad will be waiting to see their team stream across ESPN with a new acquisition.

Many teams will have to make very important decisions about resigning the players they already have, and find brand new pieces to fit the puzzle. If successful in this, they might have a chance to bring a championship to their city.

Most of the talk thus far has replicated that of the last couple of yearsג€”itג€™s all about Brett Favre and whether or not he will be partaking in another season with the Packers.

Much like baseballג€™s Roger Clemens, many people feel Favreג€™s inabilityג€”or refusalג€”to give the team a definitive answer one way or another is selfish, putting himself above the team.

In Clemensג€™ case you could even say that he is putting himself above the whole game more so than a single team. We have seen it time and time again with both players, and if Brett Favre weren't Brett Favre this kind of behavior would not fly.

Clemens and Favre are similar in this respect. They are able to hold out much longer than anyone else because of who they are. The difference between them, though, is that a starting pitcher only plays every five games while the quarterback is usually the most important player on the field in every game.

Also, Clemens was not on a roster. He was simply floating around and any team that wanted him late was making the decision to sign him. No oneג€™s hand was being forced.

The argument many make is that Favre is hurting his team because delaying a decision makes it difficult for the Packers to fill their roster appropriately. I disagree.

No matter what, there are next to no quarterbacks available in free agency. Derek Anderson is at the top of the list this year and he is restricted. Plus, Cleveland made a fairly solid offer yesterday and most agree that he will accept.

So whether Favre decides against play now or in two months, Aaron Rodgers would be the man in Green Bay.

If Favre were to say now that he is coming back for another season it would probably help the team sign some free agents. So think about this: Brett Favre would actually be helping the Green Bay Packers by holding out in announcing his retirement, if thatג€™s what he decides.

Free agents are more likely to sign with the Packers if they are 75 percent convinced Brett will be back. A wide receiver like Mossג€”the fun free agent linked to the Packers thus farג€”certainly wouldn't rush to Green Bay for an Aaron Rodgersג€™ led franchise.

The thought of a magical season with Brett Favre, who had the Packers at the doorstep of the Super Bowl last year, is much more appealing.

If the Packers hadn't spent a first round pick in 2005 on Rodgers and if a Doug Peterson-type quarterback were the only option given a late Favre retirement, itג€™s true that he would be hindering the team greatly. But the bottom line is, this year that is not the case.

Packers fans should also be pleased that Favre is, in a sense, holding team management's feet to the fire. They were close to real victory last year, and Favreג€™s holding out just may be his way of forcing management to obtain the key players the team needs to get toג€”and winג€”the big one this year.

Folks, if it were already the halfway point in training camp and Favre was still undecided, he would be holding the Packers hostage and it would be hurting the team.

But as of now, I say the delay is not really hurting them. Plus, if he is retiring and waits to announce that decision, it would probably prove beneficial for the Packers.

Cowboys franchised Safety Hamlin, signed Flo Adams to a (hopefully backloaded) 6 year deal, tendered Marion Barber with a 1st round offer with the intention of matching most offers.

So it looks like the biggest personel loss is Julius Jones, one of the inside linebackers(Ayodele or Carpenter) and most likely Terry Glenn.

Has anyone heard anything about Cedric Benson undergoing surgery? I read it on a forum the other day, but haven't been able to verify it anywhere. Basically they said Benson would miss half the season again.

Its just incredible. Simply astounding. HE PLAYED HALF THE FUCKING SEASON, AL.

There is now no way The Packers can re-sign Corey Williams.

How much is Albert Haynesworth going to want?!

Antwan Odom is about to get PAID.

Fuck it, Jevon Kearse's dead ass is going to get 10 mil a year now.

Ebenezer Ekuban is going to be a billionaire in 4 years.

This is seriously one of the most fucked up signings I can remember.

50 MILLION DOLLARS. FOR TOMMY KELLY.

the way deals are structured though vary's greatly. Just cause it's a 50mil deal, doesn't mean he'll get anywhere near that.
