I'm watching the bowl game between ucf and Baylor to get a handle on why bortles is jags prized qb. What it looks like to me is that the offense is really auburnesque in the sense that everyone knows the play based on the pre snap look. So bortles is basically a spread game manager. The difference is that auburn uses multi backs etc whereas ucf is basically one back with occasional h or f. The difference is that auburn is probably mostly automatic at some point whereas it seems to me that ucf will send in specific packages more often. If I'm right the reason why bortles is prized here is because ucf seems to pay attention to more details in the d in order to make their stuff work. Example Marshall will run zone read at a given look when bortles will hand the ball off on power on theoretically same look. Malzhan seems to really get his jollies fucking shit up on one side or the other whereas ucfs starting point seems to be taking what the d gives them on the whole field if that makes sense

Aside from the physical attributes it wouldn't surprise me if this is why the jags like bortles; he's taught at looking at the details on the whole field rather than just making sure the d is generally balanced and then focusing on basically one side or a few players on the field

edit; i am reading this after the fact. fuck me. all im saying is that ucf seems to have play packages and bortles looks at the whole d and puts them in the right play if the package cant handle whats being thrown at them defensively pre snap. my explanation of what auburn does with play calling is terrible and wrong mostly

NFL cracks down on the Green Bay Packers selling FAKE Stock

one of my favorite Phila moments was Blastmaster recanting on how he got NFL franchise stock as a Christmas present. :larry: you can't make this kind of stuff up

Image
Only the Green Bay Packers have a public ownership structure, via stock that isn’t actually stock because it has no appreciating value and can’t be re-sold. Which makes it the ultimate money-for-nothing vehicle for raising money from fans who want to be technically accurate when they refer to the team as “we.”

For Packers fans who don’t already have a worthless piece of paper that says they own something that can’t be owned like shares in corporations with shares traded on the open market, they won’t be able to buy the suitable-for-framing evidence of non-ownership until the league allows them to do it again. Packers CEO Mark Murphy recently explained how it works in his latest Q&A session on the team’s official website.

“I do not anticipate another stock sale in the near future,” Murphy said. “Any future stock sales would have to be approved by the League. Since the other teams in the League cannot conduct stock sales, the concern is that we would be at a competitive advantage if we were able to conduct stock sales on a regular basis to operate the organization. For this reason, the proceeds from any stock sale have to go directly into the stadium. If you look back over our history, we hold stock sales every 15 to 20 years. By the late 2020s, I would say that Lambeau Field would be ready for another major renovation!”

Murphy’s answer, which didn’t address the portion of the question that said “I know it really doesn’t hold any true value,” raises a point that the NFL should explore when it comes to raising money for other team stadiums in the future. Why not allow other teams to sell a small piece of their equity via non-stock stock that would give fans a chance to buy a non-piece piece of the team?

Currently, teams that need new or upgraded stadiums try to get the politicians to kick in taxpayer money. Why not go directly to the taxpayers with one hand open and the other hand holding sheets of paper telling them they own something that they don’t actually own?

As places like South Florida commencing the process of stiff-arming billionaires who want a little welfare, it makes sense to go straight to fans who would be honored to give up even more of their money in order to keep the team in town. It’s safe to say that plenty of teams would be in favor of doing that.

I love how self absorbed football players talk shit.
Flash Patterson:"I'm going to be a top 5 playmaker. I'm a playmaker. I like to make plays. Like I tell them, 'just get the ball in my hands'. I feel like I'm special with it. I just like to do special things with the ball."

I'm still pretty butthurt ( :pause: ) about Revis going to the Pats. Fuck him.

Geno gonna throw for about 600 yards and 6 touchdowns combined in the 2 games against the Pats this year :mrcee: :face:

But not really.

Suspended Jaguars WR Justin Blackmon was arrested on marijuana possession charges Wednesday night.
According to police in Edmond, Oklahoma, Blackmon was stopped for a traffic violation and officers could smell an odor of marijuana coming from the car. After a search, marijuana was found and Blackmon was taken into custody. It's the latest transgression for the Jaguars wideout, who was suspended indefinitely last October following repeated violations of the substance-abuse policy. This certainly won't help Blackmon as he aims to get reinstated for the 2015 season. Blackmon has now been suspended three times since 2010.
