if this is the case, then i can make the argument that you didn't watch enough yankee baseball to make a call on who actually won the MVP, dumbass.

baseball writers are amongst the most ignorant and stubborn writers in all of sports. this has been well chronicled.

plz stfu.

Jeter is actually having a respectable year defensively. He has a slightly positive UZR rating which means he's been better than the league average.
defensive metrics are all over the place, Jeter had a rep of being god-awful then turning it around a fair bit around 04, but UZR has him awful 05-07 while respectable in 02-04 and 08/9

not sure what to make of it, he's obviously a top10 alltime SS and likely top5

 at kel still thinking Morneau was the Twin's MVP in 06, he's absolutely wrong and you didn't need to watch a single twins game to know that, the numbers are so massively in favor of Mauer

Sizemore ranks really high that year if you like UZR for defense(helps him a lot hurts Jeter)

uhhhhhhh, they aren't best friends. In fact, Jeter only acknowledges him when A-rod hit's a HR. In fact, NY Sports radio is all over Jeter for not embracing A-rod more to make A-rod feel more comfortable. Other then the fact that they are both good looking guys and date celebrities, they don't have much in common.

seriously, this was the most off base statement in this thread other then Kel's "Morneau deserved the MVP" spiel. Chicago strikes again!

fuck defensive metrics.

Jeter has been sub-par on the field the past 2 years. He purely gets by now on defensive positioning and his arm. However, he cannot field a play going to his left side at all. Any time a ball is hit up the middle, I pretty much assume it's a base hit.

oh, morneau had more HR and RBI then Jeter that year? I can play this game. How about the fact that Jeter had a better OPS+, more runs scored, more SB, more runs created, and more win shares.

So what you're saying is because we haven't seen Honus Wagner play and because he didn't play against minorities we shouldn't count him. Sure, I guess we can eliminate Babe Ruth from being on the Top 10 baseball players of all-time list too. While we're at it, let's remove Ty Cobb, Cy Young, Tris Speaker & Lou Gehrig too
okay.

babe, i'm a jeter guy, mm k? the reason he didnt win the MVP is because morneau meant more to the twins success than jeter did for the yankees in 06.

does that make sense?

when you play for the yankees each position is filled by the best players money can by.

my post was just a courtesy to eternalgayfisting's dilusion that mauer had a betetr statistical year than morneau.

give jeter the man of the year award, i dont give a fuck. fact is, he wasnt the mvp in 06.

wrong.

there were only 3-4 categories where Morneau was better then Jeter AND mauer.

Jeter and Mauer scored higher in every other stat......especially the ones that calculate how valuable the player was.

from what i know, the MVP is given to the guy who impacts their team more. not by pure stats.

but i'll email morneau and see if he'll give the award to jeter.

a-rod did a magazine interview and said everyone knows jeter is not the best shortstop and is not as good himself and nomar and other things to that effect for absolutely no reason and without provocation so jeter disowned him; they were best friends before that

im not going to argue with you about it because there is no way you can ever be wrong about any thing

we'll pick this up next year when morneau wins his second MVP and you'll say it should have went to big pink

cant win for losin

it's not that i can't be wrong about anything.

it's just that i can't lose against idiocy.

you haven't given a single reason why morneau should've been MVP. all you brought up was "he was our most valuable player" which wasn't even right in the first place.

hi, my name is eternalreflection my hobbies enjoy talking out of my ass and sucking penis

call me
one plays catcher, one plays SS one plays 1B

hint the C/SS are far more important positions

OPS of the 3

Mauer .936
Jeter .900
Morneau .934

before position adjustments Mauer>Morneau especially since his is more OBP heavy(OBP is more important than SLG, so OPS is decent but underrates high OBP guys, overrates high SLG guys)

Mauer is the best per PA guy for the season, the reason you can still consider Jeter is he had 100more PA than Mauer which is a significant amount

gloss is just salty that jeter gave alba the herp

the fact that jeter used to make so many errors that aren't happening now
is based on the fact that his range is diminished
and he just doesn't get to the ball as good as he used to
add that with new first baseman tiexera who has saved him and canoe
a bunch of throwing errors that giambi would have watched roll by

same in the beginning of his carrer
watch how many times he threw the ball in the dirt/off base etc. with no
consequences because tino would bail him out

now hating on jeter at the plate
that's just preposterous
goes to the opposite field better than most players in history
great table setter
one of the smartest baserunners in modern day mlb(this has diminshed in the last year or two also)
consistent as fuck
and he comes through in clutch situations

the only complaints i've ever had about him
was all the striking out and double plays

however between his commercials and cookie cutter interviews
i've come to realize
this guy is a douchebag
not of the a-rod caliber
but he's no Thurman Munson
that's my captain

haha
naw man
i just suck really bad at grammar and punctuation
so this is how i write
i normally would never use any capital letters
but when referring to Thurman Munson
it's a must

all my rap songs rhyme

maybe i subconciously ghost write for bender
