Prospects

this is the thread for all sports fans of all sports to discuss promising prospects

who will be the next great center (hockey or basketball)? who will be the next great halfback or quarterback, etc.? the next great pitcher? the next great shortstop?

let's do our best to get it right...pick guys that you'd bet will turn out to be great players

i want to revisit this thread years from now

assuming pf survives that long (long live da p)

i'll start it off with austin rivers:

<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/upU9gZCzygM&hl ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/upU9gZCzygM&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

he'll probably go to duke. he's a junior this year in high school so he will be first eligible for the draft in 2012 but i could see him playing more than a year

he reminds me of steph curry (also coach's son obv.) with more athleticism

btw: he played on a top team against other top teams. dropped 45 on the 4th ranked school in the states in one game...in other words he is not playing garbage in these highlights

Good idea for a thread. I'll hit MMA since most don't know much about it. Tyrone Woodley is probably the biggest prospect right now. I wouldn't really consider Jon Jones or anyone else like that to be prospects because they have been on the big show and even main evented in some cases, no matter how young they are. Tyron Woodley is undefeated welterweight that finished all of his fights by submission. He hasn't tooken that step, but he has shown promise. His wrestling is great (2 time all american, big 12 champ, etc), good bjj and improving stand up. He's also training out of ATT so he's at a good camp. Look for him to be a top contender in a few years. He's got a fight May 21st so check him out if you want..

Austin Rivers = Doc Rivers son

hate to sound obvious, but Brandon Knight:

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Vxf6zuNhZdQ&hl ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Vxf6zuNhZdQ&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

He is a much more polished player going into college than Wall, or Rose. He has a much better jumper than either, can score at will (dropped 48 on Austin Rivers team on Espn), NBA 3 point range already, broke his HS career assist mark, and averaged 2 charges taken a game.

My boy Jack McInerney, 17 y/o drafted straight out of HS by the MLS expansion team Philadelphia Union. He doesn't have the greatest physical tools, read: is 5'9 and not a burner, but has a nose for the goal, technique rarely seen in an American, and a canon for a leg. These highlights are from when he was 16 in the U-17 Concacaf World Cup qualifiers:

Naw man. He has had a verbal to Billy Donovan and Florida for a long time. I've been watchin him since his sophmore year and I've been really impressed. He is the 2nd ranked junior in the nation and I would love to see who they have ranked above him.

those rivers highlights remind me a lot of reggie miller. quirky shooting form, long skinny arms. he's a little shorter than reggie but i think there's a lot of similarities.

Michael Gilchrist is the #1 ranked junior, and he's put a verbal commitment into...wait for it..........wait for it................Yup, Kentucky.

Personally I'm a big fan of Quincy Miller, reminds me of Durant. He's a close friend of John Wall and rumor has it he and Marquis Teague (another top 10 2011 recruit) will probably join Gilchrist at UK.

edit: Q Miller

Ja'Juan Story 6'4" 195lbs out of Nature Coast Tech High school. He's big, physical, and fast and attacks the ball when it's in the air. Was a bit under the radar till this winter and spring where he was just killing people at camps, 7 on 7's and combines. One of my favorite WR prospects in the 2011 recruiting class.

Sticky this thread..

I am not saying this has happened or will, but people should really not just throw up any highschool player who looks good so this doesnt become a clusterfuck of random people we will never hear from again.. Only real prospects.

For the basketball players, I wonder how many people are going to go down the World Wide Wes-callipari-Leon Rose line..

James Wilder Jr. son of former NFL player James Wilder

6" 2"
220lbs
RB/LB/DE

One of the top prospects in the Country and a guy who will be physically ready to contribute as soon as he steps on campus. Being recruited for 3 positions but wants to play RB in college, I think his future is as a OLB. Physical and punishing runner with good burst and vision. On defense he has a great motor and is capable of making plays sideline to sideline. Great closing speed and always delivers the blow as a tackler.

No, I am just saying people shouldn't just upload as many videos of random people as they can.. Maybe we can make this a yearly thread? '2010 college prospects' etc.?

Not many people here follow recruiting close enough for this thread to become like that. This thread will prolly be off the first page withing a week.

This is my "little" cousin, Willie Monroe Jr. He boxes as a middleweight and currently is 8-0 in his proffesional career. His pops, Willie Monroe Sr. was nice back in the 90's and our Uncle, Willie "the worm" Monroe, was one of the top fighters out of Philly. He was the first cat to beat Marvin Hagler. He signed with Dibella Entertainment(Lou Dibella) recently and fought on the Andre Berto undercard a few weeks ago.

Obviously I am a little biased because he's family and we're from the same town, but, son is nice. Peep.

Tony Steward
6' 2" 215lbs
Lb
Menendez HS, St Augustine, FL

He's a very athletic and active LB in the Derrick Brooks mold. Reads his keys and reacts very quickly and takes very few false steps. Explosive tackler that keeps his feet moving and explodes through the ball carrier. Good in coverage and has the ability to run with backs and TE's. Displays great timing on the blitz. Im prolly going to try to get up there to see him play sometime this fall. He's been really opening some eyes at combines, 7 on 7,s and showcases this winter/spring. One of my favorite LB's in the this class and i think he ends up at a OLB at the next level.

I stand corrected on Austin Rivers. He decommitted earlier this month from Florida. If he goes to Duke he's a faggot though.
