This dude Gamboa just beat the shit out of mexican ray romano.
I stopped closely following boxing a while back but he was pretty electrifying. Any of you boxing enthusiasts got opinions on this kid?

Gamboa is a hell of a fighter. He has looked a little inconsistent lately in some of his fights and has proven to be a little vulnerable at times (getting knocked down a few times but mostly due to missing a big punch and getting caught off balance). He's one of the Cuban defectors that has really panned out(having over 250 amateur fights before turning pro). Dude has serious speed and power, can throw in combinations and can be pretty elusive as well. The fight that everyone wants to see for Gamboa right now is the guy you saw come up in the post-fight interview, Juan Manuel Lopez.

heres a recent fight where he shined as well

<object width="640" height="390"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/w32aohgV_j8?fs ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/w32aohgV_j8?fs ... n_US&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="390"></embed></object>

So yeah, he's one to keep an eye on. You might wanna check out Nonito Donaire Jr. too, he's an exciting, fast and powerful fighter as well.

juan ma is exciting, but extremely overrated. i liked how gamboa called out chris john. that would be a dope fight too. but i wouldn't mind him kicking juan ma's ass. just as long as a good titlist fights a top contender, or a titlist and a titlist fights or a top contender vs a top contender fights, i'm happy. no more of these fake 'good fights' like alvarez vs hatton or cotto vs mayorga. this is one of the reason's why there's a perception that boxing is dead in this country.

there's a lot of hopkins haters. i'm not one of them. i was not looking forward to that last fight he had with pascal but it turned out to be good, imo. i'm actually looking forward to the rematch. b-hop is so good as manipulating people, he's a master.

Bernard's crazy trash talk is just part of who he is. Bhop isn't one of my favorite fighters to watch but you have to respect his skill set and longevity. Hopkins Pascal 1 was actually an entertaining scrap that I thought Bernard should have won on points. I'm looking forward to seeing this rematch.

yah, word, i'm not going to cry foul because it was a draw, but i thought he won the fight by maybe a point or two. if he wouldn't have gotten knocked down one less time, he would have been chillin and setting up a fight with dawson? bute? who knows. i just do hope that he's as entertaining as he was in his last fight, because that was definitely entertaining.

He's a fucking beast. Like others said, there were times last year where he didn't impress as much as this, but his punching power will definitely be a problem for a lot of guys. Plus as Solis pointed out and we all witnessed, he has a tendency to hit behind the head. I suspect that has to do with his height and quickness creating awkward angles, but when a guy who hits that hard hits you in the back of the skull, you're in for some shit.

You hear Kellerman interview Solis after the fight?

Kellerman: What's it like to fight Gamboa?
Solis: Es terrible

I agree with all this. Hopkins is a machine. It's insane that a guy his age can stay in that kind of shape and compete with champions. I think he'll win the rematch on points, but at this point in his career you just can't call it for sure...

that fight camp 360 was funny. manny really came off as a diva. it was funny when manny is about to meet up with the president and meanwhile, poor shane meeting up with someone from espn. not even sure if it was TV, might have been a radio show. the host of the show says something along the lines of "i guess i'm stuck with you." afterward, they show shane in a car saying "that was rough."

Look at his record and his lack of KO victories. He was basically thought to be the sacrificial lamb tonight.Upset of the year so far.

wow, what a weekend of upsets and surprises. at some point, maidana is going to have to learn how box and throw a straight punch. can you imagine a prime morales, even at at 140? he would have won that fight easy. compared to other boxers still at it and having sucess - i guess morales' progress shouldn't be that big of a surprise - the guy is still just 33.
