Nice strike by Sturridge there, he's a quality player. Will be interesting to see if he and Suarez can both flourish if Suarez stays.

Love me some Coutinho. Great moment for Simon.
Some of the build up play was great, the final third not so much.

He will no doubt be top points scorer by the end of the season.Y@k Bollocks wrote:I like the look of Bony. No Van Persie though??
Tough start for him though, he's not worth captaining for the first few gameweeks.

Arsenal. What a joke. I hope they finish 17th this year.
Great game by Villa, tons of heart and work rate.

Re: Official European Football 2012 Regular Season Thread
shut the fuck up. last season, we conceded the second least amount of goals (37) next to city. no one is denying that today sucks, but at least get your facts right. it's one thing to complain about arsenal; it's another thing to talk incredible amounts of shit about the team you supposedly root for.

Re: Official European Football 2012 Regular Season Thread
I suppose I COULD shut the fuck up, but nahhh, I won't.
Maybe I talk shit about the club because the club deserves to be shat on. Just because I'm a supporter doesn't mean I'll blindly support anything they do like mindless lemming.
I've accepted the fact that Arsenal are no longer a world-class team. They should be on paper, but in reality, they're just a glamor club. Based in London, highest ticket prices, biggest profits, fancy new stadium, huge sponsorship deals...all sounds well and good...oh, except for the part about winning. They're not a destination for top shelf players, they're just a pawn other clubs or agents use to jack up the prices of their players.
All you have to do is look down the road at a club that isn't nearly as popular worldwide, isn't as profitable, and isn't even in the Champions League. Yet they've managed to bring in quality players to improve depth and strength their weaknesses. Not only are they good enough to finish Top 4, but they're probably not all that far off from legitimately challenging for a title. Maybe I wouldn't be so shitty if I didn't hear so much about the "70m" they have to spend this window but I should have known better.
I could go on and on, but who cares. They have a philosophy and they're sticking to it, I get it. But it doesn't mean I can't be upset with the direction of the club. I've spent more money on chewing gum this week than Arsenal have spent improving their club this season.

Re: Official European Football 2012 Regular Season Thread
Fact of the matter is this: Arsenal were shit to begin with a year ago and we all talked shit. They finished the campaign stronger than any other team and qualified for CL. At the expense of Spurs, which is now an annual tradition.
Today blows for Gooners, but... Villa are a young, exciting team. Their front 3 were pretty darn good.
But if I'm a gooner, I'm confused as hell as to why nothing has been spent and nobody has been brought in.

I kind of sort of felt like Swansea would put up more competition than they've shown through 69 minutes here.

boggles the mind that United were 3rd favourites for the title by the bookmakers. Like people forgot they won the league by 11pts last year and have the same squad plus Zaha.

Van Wolfswinkel
Van Nistelrooy
Van Hooijdonk
Van Der Vaart
Van Pursie
Van Bronckhorst
Van Der Meyde
That's 7 of them.
Kos' tackle was class. Ref was really poor.
Thought we were unlucky today but AV's front 3 looked great.

Lolrsenal!
Watching the crowd yell at Wenger before leaving was amazing. Part of me feels bad for Wenger because making the CL after losing the likes of Fabregas, Van Persie, Nasri et al. was an amazing effort.
Arsenal are still the biggest bunch of whiny Eurocunts in the league, they were crying all day long. They were unlucky with Koscielny's tackle, but Villa played great all day, and you can't say they didn't deserve it. I also thought that Koscielny might have made a poor decision there given that he was basically having to come from behind the player, it was hugely risky. Then he gets red carded shortly thereafter which was moronic. Still time left at the end of the transfer window, but they'd better make some moves because they're clearly not title contenders. Arsenal always finish strong though, here's to hoping they dig themselves a hole they can't get out of this season.
Benteke is the truth, he's going to have a monster season I think. Guzan beasted all day long as well. Villa look like they're going to be fun to watch this year which is something I can't remember saying....ever. Their purple kits were fucking ill too.
Man U cruised to a relatively easy win today on the road. I was happy for Moyes. You have to think that they're going to be in the thick of things as usual.
Thrilled to see Spurs tomorrow.

Re: Official European Football 2012 Regular Season Thread
Not OVERLY impressive, but I certainly like the direction we're going.
Chadli was so-so but improved leaps and bounds as the match went on.
The chemistry between Walker, Pauli and Lennon on the right was nice.
Capoue was just a fuckin boss in the center of the pitch. He's great.
Relieved to see the best CB in the league back healthy and doing Super Jan things.
