Re: NFL WEEK 12
I'm gonna be hitting the bottle hard this week.
Some lol beatdown moments from my youth, listed in today's Chicago Tribune:
1987: 49ers 41 - Bears 0
1988: 49ers 28 - Bears 3
1989: 49ers 26 - Bears 0
1991: 49ers 52 - Bears 14
1994: 49ers 44 - Bears 15
Those late 80s Bears teams were really good, too.
The offensive line is just too big of a weakness against teams like the 49ers, Packers, and Giants. There's no way that you can avoid all three in the playoffs, either.DLG wrote:I can't understand why the bears didn't do something over the course of the year to have a better or at least better prepared backup QB after what happened last year.

Shit, there's a good chance that the Vikings won't see Cutler this year.

Re: NFL WEEK 12
What I didn't understand about the Bears Niners game last night, was why the Bears weren't double Aldon every play, or at least every clear passing situation. How many sacks does a guy have to get before you start giving him extra attention? That's on the coaching staff.
Re: NFL WEEK 12
@video
it seems to me like justin smith paves the way for aldon and the nightmarish threat of 52 and 53 seal the deal. you dont want to spend an interior blocker, you dont want to put a te out there just to attempt to help block someone who is already a beast and risk even more pressure from the lbs reading that out. the 9er defense is pretty much kingly in the league right now up there with the steel

Between not getting closer for fg and challenging that TD run this game entirely on Schwartz.

Texans are some paper champs, just like the Falcons in the NFC, nowhere near as good as their record would suggest.
Re: NFL WEEK 12
the best part was the defensive coordinator punting his clipboard after that stupid touchdown

Oh I feel you, but that's not even close to being a "close" call, the play should've been whistled dead early. Each team had their chances to win the game late, but that play was clearly a momentum killer.

On Monday, he said "I'll play again this season", but now he's returning only 6 days later.
I'd prefer to just play it safe and sit him for another week, but then again, Lovie Smith's job is on the line.

Re: NFL WEEK 12
how can you go from world record defense, dominating the first half of the season to playing for your job?

Re: NFL WEEK 12
If the Bears miss the playoffs (or even fail to get past the first round), I'm guessing that Emery will bring in his own guy. That's how it ought to be, anyway. He shouldn't be handcuffed to a coaching staff that doesn't fit into his overall plan.capable_keL wrote:how can you go from world record defense, dominating the first half of the season to playing for your job?

The Bears got fat off a weak first half schedule, beating the likes of Jacksonville, Tennessee, Carolina, St. Louis, Detroit, Dallas, and Indianapolis. Thank god that they caught Andrew Luck in his first NFL game. Detroit and Dallas can never get their shit together. St. Louis is the youngest team in football, iirc. Not one of their victories has come against an impressive opponent, and they should have lost to a Carolina team that's in shambles.
And let's say that they beat Minnesota and Seattle - who really cares? Both teams are wild card caliber - nothing special.
Should Emery have addressed the offensive line in his first draft? Of course, but he was also fed a lot of bad information about J'Marcus Webb, Chris Williams, etc. There's still hope for Gabe Carimi - this is basically his rookie season. Unfortunately, he just lost his starting job to Jonathan Scott, so I don't know how he's gonna get better from the bench.
