I don't blame him. Was kind of hoping he'd come to oak town for a year.

they should just pay him to stand on the sideline, hype up the crowd.

He was a shell of his former self this year. Hard to have longevity with his running style.

probably.

All I know is that the Reese better finally open up that wallet and get the Giants some great defensive pieces instead of his usual bargain bin players. Wouldn't mind poaching a few guys from Denver.

What do you guys think of Olivier Vernon? Worth big bucks?

lol @ blaming spags, there was no talent on that defense last year. the best pass rushers were fucking ayers and JPP with one hand.

there's one legit CB and one that's talented but can't stay health.

there are no LBs that are remotely above average.

the best saftey was a rookie that should probably be playing LB.

tell tom brady that spags can't coach a defense with talent.

having one of the sickest dlines in the history of the game does not equate to good coaching. good personnel shit yes. spags lucked into that defense though.
look at this guy's career and tell me he's more than just an nfl company man who happens to be on the inside of that social network

it seems like the only time people call that giants defense historic is when they want to discredit spags.

strahan, pierce and osi were certified, tuck and kiwanuka were coming into their own.

it wasn't a scary defense all year like the baltimore, chicago, tampa, denver defenses that are brought up in GOAT discussions.

spags put together great schemes and a lot of risky, aggressive blitzing during that playoff run.

he might not be one of the best to do it, but he can coach a defensive and put them in a good position to be dominant when he has some pieces to work with.

also, I'm loving the rumor that the Giants give the Jets the 10th pick for Wilkerson.

A sure thing for the next 3-4 years >>>> rolling the dice with that pick.

@dlg
not that the 07 nyg d itself was legendary and hats off to the guy that let them do what they do best but it's like..... a) they didn't dominate all year like that b) here is the list of positions dude has held after 07 (prior to 07 was eagles d pos coach) please alert me to all that amazing success which predicts future success even given the fact of his current post

St. Louis Rams (2009–2011)
Head coach
New Orleans Saints (2012)
Defensive coordinator
Baltimore Ravens (2013)
Senior defensive assistant
Baltimore Ravens (2014)
Secondary coach
New York Giants (2015–present)
Defensive coordinator

definitely a spotty track record, I agree.

but I still think that if he has players, he can give the giants a defense that's competitive enough to keep them in games and let Eli and Odell win them.

Re: NFL Offseason Thread

so the Seattle times wrote an article with a click bait title

If even a current NFL player analyzes a play incorrectly, what does it say about the rest of us?

so the article is about how dude pro ball player x was doing some shit on twitter analyzing a play and he thought Thomas Davis was doing one thing and then Thomas Davis came in to the discussion and was like nah dude I'm doing this other thing. the article ends with a quote by player x saying 'everyone's doing their own thing' basically

it's an important lesson but one thing it shows is the importance of showing why trends are what they are and do what they do: because there's a play/strategy that is perceived as and/or is dominant a la why running zone and playing defense despite how ugly it looks sometimes can get you to and win the superbowl for you if you play it right and execute well enough

reese spending like his job depends on it, because it does.

can anyone explain what the browns are trying to do by letting every one of their decent players walk? that franchise is such a mess.

my guess is they are looking to build through draft. their new analytical people have a history of doing so and they probably see these people as being overpaid or overpriced. they are probably going to start zone running in earnest which means that you can have a super shitty oline and get to the superbowl and win a la the Seahawks.

note that they haven't gotten rid of manziel either (yet?). something even they said would happen but I said it wouldn't. I just think that's odd. of course I called it but still...but here's the thing about the nfl... you don't really need a qb if you can run and play d. nobody thinks osweiller has a high ceiling but they'll sign him because he was on a winning team that ran and played d. so he's already thinking in that framework. supposedly profootballfocus had the oline guys as tops but I have to be honest their models are off in terms of describing the game reality and chances are those guys wanted a bunch of money.

Here's another thing. that db they let go? ints ok cool but please tell me why cbs are worth anything right now? the avg cb is worth nothing. only the finest are actually worth money (they are worth a lot in my opinion but that's another discussion). not only that but dude was probably giving up plays and probably was allergic to run d.
