"wrote off as a John Stockton Clone"

Post by Dids »

Blog thread got locked before I could diss Sysmantics for saying this.

That's retarded.

Nash still isn't close to Stockton's league. Not until he can play defense will he ever be n the conversation. Any suggestion that Nash > Stockton is fucking retarded.

The End.

From what I've read, this reborn Nash seems to be more in the vein of Pistol Pete than John Stockton.

are you serious?

if stockton in his prime was on phoenix, he would've averaged 16 assists per game and there would be no question to who MVP was instead of being a debate b/w shaq and nash.

this is a man that averaged 14.5 assists per game in a half court, pick and roll offense.

nash went from underrated player last offseason to the most overrated player of all time right now. sickening

16 might be a modest estimate, 18-20 with those weapons and game style wouldn't be unrealistic

this thread doesn't exist

nash doesn't play D you can't say he's a great basketball player when only one facet of his game is good

you can't just be a great batter in baseball and expect to enter the hall of fame

same in basketball

and in the same vein dirk is a pussy

nash isn't half the player stockton is.

the only thing nash might be better at is three point shooting and even that is close.

but stockton was quicker, better passer, better court awareness, ran an offense better, played better defense, and was 20 times more of a clutch player then nash ever will be.

nash can't even carry stockton's jockstraps.

I wasn't disputing his clutchness but Nash is a clutch player as well.

Nash had 11.5 assists/game this year with a loaded offense and very fast tempo

Stockton average more assists than that for 8 FUCKING YEARS IN A ROW, 13.8,13.6,14.5,14.2,13.7,12.0,12.6,12.3 then 11.2 87/88 through 95/96

Nash isn't anywhere near Stockton's league, not even close

its is just a sign of how far true PG play has fallen, that Nash is getting acolades ... this is the only year in the last 40 a PG could have won the MVP with the stats he had

also Stockton was scoring 17ish a game for most of those years .. Nash only had 15.5

Stockton is better than Nash. Point blank.

However, Nash is quicker than Stockton and a better scorer.

But overall, Stockton was the smarter and better player.

Stockton wasn't fast-fast. But he was basketball fast. In his later years, I remeber him burning Steve Francis off the dribble because he knew when to explode to the hoop.

This thread is silly, Nash couldn't hold Stockton's jockstrap. Do you think Stockton would have gotten badly out played by Tony Parker in his prime?

IF (damn, that's a big if) Stockton wanted to score lots of points, he could have done so, but he was content to set up his pussified big man.

Nash is better at dribble penetration than Stockton.

Stockton was just smarter so he figured ways to get the ball to the open man without it.

Understand also, an assist is only an assist when the person you pass to scores. So it must also be taken under consideration that Stockton did often pass the ball to someone who was able to make their shots and shot much higher percentages than anyone that Nash is passing to.
