The Hawk owns everyone on that list, it was fun rooting for him in his late decline when he had no right playing

mag's list is on point.

i've always maintained that don mattingly should be in the HOF cause him and kirby played the same # of years and have virtiually identical career stats. also there were 4 years where he was arguably the best hitter in baseball.

That's true, plus he had that gangster batting stance.

even if you take into account fielding, i'd still take jim rice in this list. frank thomas is the best hitter on this list. Dawson is a superior fielder to rice. but i'd rather have rice then both.

from 75-85 it can be argued that Rice was the best hitter in baseball.

Also, my standards for the baseball HOF are higher then anyother HOF.

I'm not saying he was the best every year, but from that time period it could be argued he was the best hitter.

Take a look at this

LOL @ Chilli Davis.

Know who else I think is a Hall of Famer, seriously? Omar Visquel. His HOF monitor is 104 (And B-R.com is usually on point) and he's every bit as good as Ozzie Smith defensively and significantly better offensive player.

Do you think the Nomars, Jeters, A-Rods, and Tejadas have changed what we should look for in a short stop? The posisiton is so much different then it was 15 years ago.

i don't think nomar is a HOF. i think a-rod, jeter, and tejada are.

i also think omar will get in but not on first and probably not second ballot.

however i disagree with mags and think ozzie was better defensively then omar. mags probably saw more games then me of ozzie though so he might be right but from what i saw, i disagree.

i love baseball reference, basketball reference, and football reference .coms

NOMAR has to get healthy to make the HOF. But he is more deserving then Tejada at this point.

Yeah, Nomar isn't a HOF.

I think Ozzie might be a little more flashier a player. Omar I believe has better range, thus making his plays sometimes look less spectacular. Sorta Jim Edmonds/Andruw Jones situation. Jim Edmonds makes better looking plays, cause Andruw Jones covers more crowd effortlessly. Also is the hotdog factor...but y'know how that goes.

Oh shiit anyone see Kyle Farnsworth today? He football tackled someone during that Tigers/Royals brawl.

yeah but when Dawson was in his prime he was a good fielder and a great base stealer in his earlier yearsl. His 1987 Season was fucking crazy insane and he carried the Cubs that year, not to take anything away from Rice

Again? He speared some guy on the Reds a few years ago after dude charged the mound on him. He actually made baseball exciting for a day.
