Nice play but don't forget your opponents aren't always paying attention. I have been guilty of just giving my opponents way too much credit when most of the time they don't think beyond the cards in front of them. I'm sure you had a pretty good read for that hand though.

Mark me down as another who thinks limit is much better than no limit. Eternal Reflection pretty much summed it up. In no limit it seems to take forever to get a playable hand, especially with aggressive players at the table. Then when you pick one up, the pot is usually heads up or three way. Someone fires on the flop and the hand is usually over. In limit hands usually go to the river with mulitple opponents on every street. Which means more decisions and more options.

Also I have played limit poker much more than no limit and feel I have a better control over the game. It's fun to sit down and know I'm probably the most aggressive player at the table, which is something I can't say often at a no limit table.

Do any of you ever have plans of playing in a WSOP event? (or have you already?)

like.. a $1,000 NL wsop event. or something similar

if i were already a millionaire

otherwise it seems a bit dreamy and impractical to enter an event where hundreds of skilled players and a handful of world class players are competing

i'd rather hit up the poker room in harrah's or borgata's at AC and just own unsuspecting fish

apparently in the WSOP event #9, the $5,000 NL event...Phil Hellmuth is down to heads up with another guy, going for his record-tying 10th WSOP bracelet.

love him/hate him?

apparently phil lost.

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showf ... &fpart=all

there's about a 50 page update thread on the whole final table, with most of it being about the heads up match between phil and jeff cabanillas...

the worst part of this whole thing is that espn had NO CAMERAS there to tape this, so we'll never see the majority of it...

people are making it sound like phil was absolutely berating this guy, and apparently, this guy was luckboxing the whole way...

at one point, the entire crowd was chanting, 'phil's on tilt, phil's on tilt'...

:ohsh:  :ohsh:

can you imagine how good of tv this COULD have been???

good, I've been doing really good at nl200 6max

just got back from Canterbury, MN where I won $350ish in 2days playing 6/12, 8/16 and BJ, if only I didn't screw around at 2/4 it would have been 750ish, but it was good times.

leaving for Vegas on the 27th, and staying out there till the 3rd, possibly longer if my friend does really well in the ME, or I qualify through a live sat.

My brother and I have been debating pot odds and what should be considered when making a call. Here is his against the grain theory:

"You have four to a flush on the turn. Your odds of catching the card on the river are approximately 1/5 (9 cards of that suit and 46 cards you haven't seen, so 9/46 = 1/5). The pot contains $4, and the bet is $1.

Most people would say that your pot odds are 1/4, i.e. the amount to call over the amount in the pot. They would say that you shouldn't make this call (not considering implied odds) because your odds are only 20% and you are paying 25% to try to get it. However, I'd say that the odds are 1/5, and you should make the call.

If you make this call five times, you will have paid five dollars into the pot. You will win one out of five times, winning $5 (the $4 pot plus your $1 call). Since you have made five calls, you have spent $5. So the pot odds are 1/5, and it is an even money bet to make the above call (not considering additional money you'll get from river bets).

I know this goes against the conventional wisdom, but I think it's correct. Am I wrong?"

What do you think? I thought I'd post it just to get some debate going.

I would consider the $1 bet as part of the pot already, so the pot would be $5.
