Re: The Official MMA Thread
you right. But I also didn't think he'd gas a min into the second round. Connor is a hell of a lot better than what I thought he was. His timing and movement is awesome...but when chad got his hands on him he was lost....if Connor fights someone that can get in close and make him grapple he's going to get rag dolled. so yea, frankie won't play that, drop the hands, and run in aimlessly shit.Gyangsta 4 Life wrote:^^You said the same thing about Mendes.

Ya lil' homie Frankie is a midget to Conor. He'll have his head ripped off in under a minute.
But ay, I like Sage Northcutt and/or especially Joe Duffy's chances at beating him sometime in the future. Maybe.
No other lightweight or featherweight on the current roster is even coming close. Not Max Holloway, and certainly not Frankie Edgar.

Aldo was a great champ, but it would be super lame if he got a rematch.. Next shot should definitely go to Edgar

NATE DIAZ!
Probably going to get a lengthy suspension and/or fine though, for the knee bar after the horn and the post fight interview. But he looked great. Johnson must've missed out on that cownboy vs diaz fight and how the lead up went...because that was pretty damn similar.

happening in march?!! awesome. dos anjos is going to be tough, mcgregor's first fight after moving up, very dangerous. holm fighting meisha tate now bc rousey is wishy washy about her return.
Re: The Official MMA Thread
dude wtf. Mcgregor gets an automatic shot? Fucking give Frankie a shot before he's too old. Goddammit Dana.

Re: The Official MMA Thread
^Agree.
but I'm betting if Connor wins the 155 belt, they'll make him drop the 145 belt. If he loses, they'll allow him to keep and defend the 145 belt.

Re: The Official MMA Thread
He couldn't defend both belts? Would be pretty amazing if he's fighting two titles several times a year. I saw that there's talk of bringing GSP out of retirement to fight McGregor.the dead poet wrote:^Agree.

Lawler/Condit was a great fight, would be more than happy to see a rematch there. I always feel like any doubt should go the way of the champion, they should be more than clearly beaten if you're going to have the judges take it away. Was too close to give it to Condit imo.

sup with BJ tho.
glad he's training with a legit camp but he should have done that 10 years ago.

^yea man agree 100%
I don't know what to think. It was rough seeing him get the shit kicked out of him by diaz (huge diaz fan, but still), Rory, and Frankie. He's 37, I got to think at this point it might not matter what fire he has left...I don't think he can fix his cardio problem at this point. But I figure if anyone can get the best out of him its wink/jack.

Re: The Official MMA Thread
really frustrating being a fan of his. we seen what he can be with a serious cardio program against Diego Sanchez and Kenny Florian but I don't know what to expect with this comeback.

That was an absolute annihilation, picked apart a really great fighter. He's going to be fun to watch going forward.djjeffresh wrote:really impressive showing by wonder boy thompson over hendricks last weekend. fun fighter to watch, i'll be rooting for him.

Jose Aldo Rejects Offer to Replace Rafael Dos Anjos vs Conor McGregor at UFC 196
It's been revealed that Jose Aldo will not be the man to step in and take Rafael dos Anjos' place opposite Conor McGregor at UFC 196 after his coach asserted the fighter isn't in any shape to take a rematch.
Aldo's coach and manager, Andre Pederneiras, spoke to Brazilian outlet Combate after it was announced dos Anjos had broken his foot 11 days prior to his scheduled meeting against The Notorious, per MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani.
He said, per Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting: "Dana [White] called me, telling what happened and asking if Aldo was in shape to fight. I said he wasn’t and that there wasn’t enough time, and unfortunately he wouldn’t be able to fight next week."

Re: The Official MMA Thread
Tony Ferguson would make for the best fight against Mac at this point. But I think he's a bad matchup for Mac, so the UFC will probably end up going with Eddie fucking Alvarez or Cowboy. Huge fan of both Diaz brothers, but sadly nate would get destroyed.

Helwani saying all signs pointing towards Nate. Gilbert Melendez on instagram saying "war Diaz". Looks like they'll announce tonight. We'll see if it's Nate.

If Nate got him on the ground, he would strangle him in seconds.
Only it ain't going to the ground.
