ryan adams is definitely more country influenced than blues, but blues is still in the mix. cold roses draws a lot from country, though, and jacksonville city nights is just a straight up country album, period. his work in whiskeytown also veers more towards country.
one good contemporary rock/blues hybrid band, and the one that stays truest to traditional blues in the process, is the black keys.

Ryan Adams started out in Whiskeytown, one of the major Alt-Country bands. It's not like country and the blues are so different anyway.
