Maiden pwns hipster fags

http://www.xfm.co.uk/news/2010/iron-mai ... izzly-bear

Iron Maiden have launched a stinging attack on Grizzly Bear in the bandג€™s recent press release. Touting US reviews and details of Maidenג€™s forthcoming fifteenth album ג€˜The Final Frontierג€™, the press release includes a paragraph lambasting the Mute artists.

ג€œ[Iron Maidenג€™s] last record, ג€˜A Matter Of Life And Deathג€™, sold a million copies worldwide in its first week, with 56,000 sold in the United Statesג€, begins the bizarre paragraph. ג€œCompare that to, say, a Pitchfork darling like Grizzly Bear, whose 2009 release, the nearly unpronounceable ג€˜Veckatimestג€™, sold 33,000 copies in the U.S. in its initial week. Itג€™s a metaphorical wedgie from metal fans to wussy indie kids everywhereג€.

Metallica and Wheatus also get short-shrift from the band:

ג€œ[Maiden] donג€™t stop doing what they do bestג€¦Thatג€™s a good thing ג€“ where other bands muck around with their formula in an attempt to be progressive (see [Metallicaג€™s] ג€˜Loadג€™ and ג€˜Reloadג€™, if you must), these dudes know what their fans want and how to do it well, ensuring that their legacy will be a lot more than being mentioned in that awful Wheatus song ג€˜Teenage Dirtbagג€™.ג€

sounds like their press releases are written by a bitter 45 year old fan who lives with his mom

Maiden hasn't had a listenable album since Brave New World.

I beg to differ, sir! A Matter of Life and Death is a stellar album, in my opinion.

That El Dorado song didn't really do it for me though, i'm hoping i just need to get high and listen to the full record when it drops.

and that press release is hilarious.

I'm mostly bitter that Dickinson came back to IM, because his solo albums, especially Accident of Birth and Chemical Wedding are better than every maiden album since Seventh Son

I'm not mad at this at all, mad at the general suckiness of iron maiden, should have kept it in the metal thread :megaman:

barack obama is the hipster president though. His Presidential Campaign ep/mixtape series got mad coverage on gorillavsbear and BrooklynVegan, but since then he got hit with internet backlash and his official major label debut Presidency only scored 5.6 in the Pitchfork Record Reviews. I'm still a fan though, the rumored cassette only Toro Y Moi remix of his Second Term single looks promising

I read an article somewhere that Jay-Z and Beyonce were at a Grizzly Bear concert in NYC last year and Jay said he was a big GB fan not that his opinion is important but I thought it was strange.

lolz at using record sales to infer quality of music.
IMHO, there is no lyricist now or before that can match the lyrical dexterity of Qwel.
