i'm going to move my comments over here then..
cause james blake deserves to get discussed
ackbar wrote:just finished listening to the entire album, so i'll edit my post.
completely cohesive record.. incredible record imo. pretty far detached from kimbie (or even blake's earliest offerings)
some kind of 2011 future gospel music or something. i can't see the critics not loving this. i think it's the best full-length besides untrue to emerge out of this scene (after one listen of course )

to care (like you) is a masterpiece
really loving the whole thing. wilhelms scream is another standout

that jamie xx mix looks really tight. he's been doing some good remixes recently.. <3 the xx

that jamie xx mix is pretty swagged.
at first i thought some of the transitions were awkward.. but some of the mixing is actually really good. and i always appreciate mixes that jump around genres

what did you guys think of Blam?

It's a pretty entertaining record to me, JME is funny as hell and I think he's getting better and better as an rapper. Some sick beats too.

Cannot get into JME, I don't know if I've just become a grime snob but neither his technique nor his bars do much for me.

In fact, some of his bars make me full on cringe.

Edit: co-sign Ackbar on the James Blake and Jamie XX comments.

there are a couple pretty great songs on the James Blake album, but I don't know.

Some of those "Bon Iver with autotune" moments are fucking cringeworthy. Sometimes it sounds like a minimalist, British Antony and the Johnsons wanna-be record too.

I love JME's first three mixtapes, even though Derkhead contains possibly the worst lyric ever written (Hi, my name's JME and I'm more street than what you drive your car on/This is my Lilly Allen remix, you know, she's got tracks with a bass guitar on), but I haven't been able to get into his more recent stuff. Maybe I'll give Blam another go.

half the charm of JME is his retarded lyrics and awesome choruses like "Punch in the face, punch in the face, nobody wants a punch in the face" and "I am the roadrunner, meep meep, I run the roads like, meep meep"

Yo, I never really listenened to this type of music before, but this chick i know put me onto this one artist, CP, specifically his song called either 'beneath the surface' or 'situational dependence'. Maybe one of these is the album title...

I know this shit didn't come out in 2011, but I figured some of you guys might be able to hook me up with this album. I can't find it online and don't really know where to look.

Thanks in advance and sorry for getting this thread off on a tangent.

Yeah, I haven't been able to bring myself to listen to it yet. Something told me it was going to be gay.

Thrown in the bin is good though!

IMHO, there is no lyricist now or before that can match the lyrical dexterity of Qwel.
