If you haven't checked out the Hot Graves album, you really should. Link is in my year end post above.

Thanks for the folder of metal. MT1. I actually sat most of this year out reliving 1986, but that Weekend Nachos record is sick.

weve done some touring with them and they rule. If you ever come across the chance to see them live dont skip out. They have great stage banter: "This next song goes out to your mother, its called KILLLLLLL FORRRR SATTTTTAAAANNNN"

I listened to this all the time in 2011. One of the best live shows I saw all year too. Take some Cro Mags, First Suicidal Tendencies album, Dead Kennedys..fuck it, if you ever listened to Hardcore Punk give this a shot. Nothing that resembles Metal in this band at all. The pit at Omegas show during CIT this past summer was a fury of creepy crawls, stage dives and high school cafeteria pizza fights.

Band rules. They are playing Chaos In Tejas this year. I live in Austin now so I will definitely be seeing them. Midnight is playing too.

The new Emo's is across the river and so is the Beauty Ballrom (YOB is playing there) I didn't hear anything about Red7 closing. That would be terrible. I sat outside smoking weed during a Hoax set last year, whoops.

They haven't announced venues yet.

Looks like I'm going to see wolves in the throne room on Tuesday. Super fucking psyched. Master Musicians of Bukkake are opening for them. I guess they've got members of SUNN O)))) And Earth. Any idea if they're any good? The other opening band is called Druden. Can anyone put me up on them? I've never even heard of them. Should I bother showing up before Wolves or should I spend my time drinking in the bar before they go on?

From man is the bastards wikipedia page
Wood spends most of his time these days complaining about artists that pay homage to the Man Is the Bastard skull. It is unknown whether Wood realizes that the original skull image was not of his own design, and that he in fact stole it from a medical journal. He often leaves childish messages on bands' Facebook walls.

this isnt true at all. Wood is a bit of a freak in that burn out hippy sort of way but he is a good hearted dude. Ive known him for 15+ years. He responds to all emails and has given several bands permision to pay homage to the Skull in merch desgins (including one of my own bands from back in the 90s) for no price at all. People need to respect that the guy is an old schooler from when shit like a band logo meant something. Hes more than willing to let someone use the skull if they have the respect to ask first.

Finally saw Slow Southern Steel Saturday night when it premiered in New Orleans. Great vibe at the show and most of the New Orleans bands featured in it were in attendence. Good party night. The film itself was cool and had some cool interviews. My only gripe was that it focused a little bit too much toward Southern stereotypes when it could have delved a little deeper into the music and what it takes to be a band down here. Definitely worth checking out if you get a chance to go out and see it. Zoroaster was good and Hail! Hornet ripped it up pretty hard. Its going to be another year or so before it gets a DVD release.

bill ward not participating in the sabbath reunion.

how sad is it that you go from a founding member and huge creative force in the greatest metal band of all time to simply being a worker ant in a company owned by Sharon Osbourne.

shit ain't right.
