New In Solitude album streaming over at Metal Blade. I'm digging the new direction (Kind of a Sisters Of Mercy vibe) and the fact that they pared it down a bit from the last album. No 15 minute, painfully and unnecessarily long songs this time around is definitely a good look.
One of the standouts from the album, Pallid Hands:
"Album Previews" are actually full tracks, so you can stream the whole thing there.
it's mostly thrash, if you didn't know.

Shit that's probably the best horror movie I've seen in like 4 years. Whoever this Zev Deans guy is he has certainly grabbed my attention with that shit.

didn't bother making any sort of drawn out list this year but was listening to
power trip (best crossover album, sounds like Iron Age on a death metal trip)
carcass (nuff said)
napalm christ (guitar player from rwakes death metal band)
mammoth grinder (pummeling death/grind/crust from Austin)
rapturous grief (2 piece old school grind from Atlanta)
coke bust (straight edge breakneck fastcore from DC, features magrudergrind drummer)
hatred surge (slept on album this year)
iron lung (getting weirder)
ossacrux (think extreme noise terror but from new orleans, hardest hitting drummer around)
final draft (inglewood power violence, sounds like a lost Spazz record)
weekend nachos (these guys are dropping classics, goofiest dudes playing the most pissed off shit)
nails (you can knock Todd fucking Jones, man)
Revenge (Canadian black metal influenced grindcore, just shreds)
bl'ast (vintage hermosa beach hardcore recordings unearthed and given the Southern Lord/Dave Grohl treatment, whatever that means, awesome record)
poison idea (reissues, from the. best. band. ever)
I know I'm forgetting bands but no cares. it's been getting harder to keep up with how much music comes out.
definitely need to check out that Gorguts, Watain, and I don't know what all else I've missed.
