Just a shot in the dark since I happen to be listening to it right now. You might dig Grand Magus. Heavy, clean vocals, and fucking awesome.

Glad you dug it. There's some other stuff i'd suggest, but I figure I'll let other people here throw some stuff up if they're interested.

Slayer are running on fumes pretty much. Araya's back problems have turned him into a statue. He hardly moves, hardly speaks and is going through the motions singing too.

Lombardo is definitely the backbone of the band. Can't imagine how dreadful they would sound if they had an average drummer or someone like lars with them now.

I don't like Holt playing with them either, seems like too much of a showboater. Pat Obrien from Cannibal Corpse looks like a much better replacement for Hanneman from the clips I've seen of him.

beer in bulgaria costs one euro though so it was still a good time.

sounds cool, dude. Killer line-up.

speaking of Hanneman, any news on how he's doing after that spider-bite leprosy thing?

they are saying that he is doing better, but honestly, I don't know if he'll ever play. shit is pretty serious. he's lucky they didn't have to amputate it.

I just spent a week going to shows every night from metal to bounce to punk. Saw some really great bands and some really mediocre shit.

heres a quick rundown

Hoax - people call bands angry/pissed but these dudes play it with a ferocity. great live. more of a punk band than metal but still heavy as shit. one of my favorite newer bands. Give them a shot if your a punker.
<object width="420" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/igAugfDXv2M?ve ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/igAugfDXv2M?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="420" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

Sixbrewbantha - grindcore for people who like Magrudergrind. Nothing devastating but still really good.
<object width="560" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/tfzgRMXIRFs?ve ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/tfzgRMXIRFs?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="560" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

Napalm Raid - ripper crust for the discharge nerds. played with more intensity than Tragedy.
<object width="560" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/fEQtlmQMvZA?ve ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/fEQtlmQMvZA?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="560" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

Dawn Of Humans - fucking awesome. NYC dirty hardcore with a wild stageshow. Like shitting through a screendoor while getting spinkicked in the chin.
<object width="420" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Cg4Cbn020jU?ve ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Cg4Cbn020jU?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="420" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

Hank Wood and the Hammerheads - My favorite set of the week for sure. These guys are like the mummies, murder city devils, dead kennedys etc..just some spastic, drastic punk rock from MYC. Cant say enough good things about this band. MT1 go check em out. They play your neck of the woods all the time. Recordings sound garagey but were much more massive sounding live.
<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/RhwjaSbzPgM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

saw Saint Vitus. Nothing spectacular. they honestly have always bored me but show was worth mentioning due to the fact that i got to have some drinks with Sean Yseult (ex White Zombie) and made it backstage where Dave Chandler gave me two bottle of Jameson.

Hail! Hornet - members of weedeater, sourvein, beaten back to pure, alabama thunderpussy. I liked the first record ok, never tried the second one and didnt really care for the band much but they are raunchy live and a throwback to the days before "sludge" was a household term in music. Crust/Sludge hybrid with some rock out parts.

Gates Of Slumber - Viking Doom zzzzzzz.

Church Of Misery - Japanese serial killer influenced stoner doom. I didnt think Id care for them as much. I like the old split they did with Iron Monkey but im not a huge fan of COM. Ill admit they were pretty cool but played forever.

Cough - old friends/tourmates of mine. They currently do Electric Wizard riffs better than EW does but dont break any new ground. They seemed to be going through the motions that night and we all partied pretty hard but had a long talk with those guys about how sick of the road they were. Had the exact same talk with the Black Tusk guys the night before. I dont get why so many bands think living on the road is a great idea. It only ends up breaking the good bands up after a few good years. I prefer one really good show a month. absence makes the heart grow.,..

Batillus - I always ignored these dudes because nothing jumped out at me from scratch. The live set won me over. Its like Through Silver and Blood era Neurosis mixed in with Skinny Puppy. Creepy, atmosphere, insanely heavy riffs. Id definitely go see them again

Dragged Into Sunlight - I enjoyed the record and had looked forward to seeing these guys but they fell flat. No amount of cow skulls on stage and hoodies pulled over heads can make up for that lackluster performance. Kinda like the dude said earlier about Watain, they were pricks to everyone and played with backs turned to the crowd the whole time. I had just seen Thou do the same bullshit the day before and it makes you want to just throw shit at a band. Batillus created twice the atmosphere with no stage props. The drummer looked like some satanic hispanic exodus cover band reject and hit his drums weak as fuck.

Double Negative - manic hardcore from NC. I enjoyed them. crowd was into it. I tend to enjoy this more traditional hardcore punk revival that keeps producing bands that are fun.
<object width="560" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/CAPnX35tGeM?ve ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/CAPnX35tGeM?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="560" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

Crazy Spirit - kinda had a Septic Death vibe to them or even maybe Void but they were great. More of the retro punx thing.
<object width="420" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/uvJ1ECsAqho?ve ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/uvJ1ECsAqho?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="420" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

I cant remember who all else I watched that week. I saw haarp, I saw a couple Bounce shows and some other shit. Probably going to see Negative Approach and The Mentors this week.

I was gonna go see nickwoj band last night but skipped out early for the Double Negative show instead.

Just saw Dragged Into Sunlight and I thought they fucking ripped.

That said, St. Vitus in BK is pretty much the perfect venue/crowd for them, so that probably helped.

it probably won't be too metal, but this Baroness album is going to be tremendous.

there's literally nothing that isn't perfect about this song

Listening to the new Gojira on Spotify.

:ohsh: :ohsh: :ohsh:

Truth be told i've always been more of a casual fan of these guys and never entirely got the hype, but halfway through the album this shit is amazing.
