when I think about chill music. ^This is my shit.
My favorite Funkadelic album of all time by far. I am not saying it is the best, because that is a matter of opinion.
Image
^ This guy Eddie Hazel (R.I.P.) was the best guitarist Funkadelic ever had.

George Clinton had asked Eddie to "play first as if he had just heard that his mother had died and then as if he had heard that she was in fact still alive"

amazing album, pretty short for you a.d.d. kids. Definitely chill music tho.

here is the video for the title track.

chill shit. some of it live some of it not. guys voice is really bizarre and you can tell hes not trained but his voice is used really well and its his phrasing (singing and playing - trumpet) that really make him a sweet dude. youll like this guy. he admits to stealing miles davis' steez but he uses it differently and he sings.

wasnt there a controversy of whether chet baker jumped off a balcony and died or whether dude was pushed?

this isn't the impulse! records album they did, is it?

if so, their rendition of my little brown book is one of my favorite jazz joints ever.

as far as chillout goes, there's these two groups/artists i enjoy a bunch: 40 winks and triplexity. both have some really good chillout shit.

from Lost Soul blog:

Jazz harp anyone? Seriously, if you're not familiar with this, you've gotta check this out. I knew nothing of Dorothy Ashby when I discovered this. I figured she was a vocalist from the cover, and when I spun it I was totally blown away. Of course, she's surrounded by some heavy hitters, too. It's pretty mellow, but swings like hell anyway.

Dorothy Ashby - harp
Frank Wess - flute
Herman Wright - bass
Roy Haynes, Art Taylor - drums

Recorded 1958
192 KPBS mp3s
anymore from her?
