great thread idea
im currently into the new massive attack and the new jj in addition to the following:
*ray lamontagne's three albums: trouble, till the sun turns black and gossip in the grain - dude's voice is one of the few that completely calms me

*new four tet - its a shitload more dancey, but in a good "let me concentrate and get this shit done" sort of way

*robotobots - i rediscovered how much i appreciated this album when digging through a random external HD the other day. been on repeat in the mix ever since

*blood of abraham - eyedollartree - i know its hiffhoff, but this was my shit when it first came out the first time - me loves it

eight deliriously enthusiastic garage-rock songs about girls, growing up, and going away from home. Rather than mask their emotions in reverb or tape hiss, Japandroids shout slogans, often in unison, over thrumming guitar chords and chaotic drumming. From the rambunctious ambivalence of "The Boys Are Leaving Town" to the slo-mo emo of "I Quit Girls", the energy level rarely wavers. Raging against the certain knowledge that we won't know what we've got 'til it's gone, "Young Hearts Spark Fire" sums up Post-Nothing's sound in four words. While Neon Indian, Washed Out, and their homemade psychedelic electro-pop peers were getting accused of wallowing in childhood, Japandroids captured the recklessness of youth-- and the abject terror of not knowing what comes after it.
Also been listening to:

well considering I primarily listen to power violence and sludge I was just looking for something that maybe some of the rest of the posters might dig.

I couldnt see anyone outside the Metal Thread (all ten of us) digging a Bastard Noise bootleg.

90% of what Southern Lord releases bores the shit out me.

Only other Dylan album i've ever heard is Highway 61 Revisited. I like this one better though. The harmonica got me like

Where to go from here with Bob Dylan?

Animal Collective- Strawberry Jam: I have been listening to this album almost non-stop for 3 days. Really catchy songs, I cant think of another band that sounds like them great album.

MGMT- Orracular Spectacular: Ever listen to an album a bunch of times before deciding that you arent really that into it? I have with this. Don't get me wrong there are some really good songs but the rest are a bit forgettable. Definitely worth listening to if you like experimental electro pop.

Dinosaur Jr.- Green Mind

Not as good as YLAOM or Bug but pretty fantastic. The Wagon is a hell of a song.

There's about 2-3 good songs on this, the rest are trash.

just started bumpin a couple albums by StudioDavoli - Megalopolis and Decibels for Dummies. good stuff. sounds a lot like Stereolab sometimes, so u know im all over that.

this isnt on either album, and a lot of their stuff is better than this, while perhaps similarly "cute":

Bison b.c. - Quiet Earth: Im going to see these guys play with High on Fire in April so I decided to finally give these guys a listen and they rock. This album reminds me a lot of Remission which is def a good thing.

Justice - Cross: Ok so these guys are the heaviest electronic "band" ive ever heard and this record is really great and always fun to go back to. Supposedly they are set to release a new album this year.

The Velvet Underground and Nico: Ive always meant to listen to Velvet Underground but just never got around to it. Partially because Ive always associated them with hipsters but this album is good and i can understand how much theyve influenced other bands.

HoF - Snakes for the Divine: This album rocks in hard HoF style from start to finish. If youve never listened to HoF you could start here. The title track and Frost Hammer are stand-outs cant wait to see them live again.

the pack ad - tintype

kinda like the chick version of the black keys, heavy blues/rock stuff. the singer does a decent take on janis joplin style of wailing. not the greatest album but these bitches aint half bad.
