I would describe them best as classic music from the awesome genre...heavy as the hammer of Thor yet somehow extremely melodic, catchy, often anthemic. Ive always considered Torche to be the logical continuation of the blue print laid by Floor.
heres a couple of my favorite cuts.

then just to add this is the band they became..one of the best bands in rock music today.

I seen Gwar like 5 times. First time when I was about 14. Definitely something everyone should do in their life.

i'll let ya'll know how it goes. i am thinking either really, really well or really, really bad. curious how much experience performing they have. also curious to see the online hype translated to IRL. either way i can buy a cd off of Percee P and will prolly see AC so night is already a sack-sex.

saw this in London last night:

<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/5kI3KFdg8HQ?fs ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/5kI3KFdg8HQ?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

was dope though kinda short and underwhelming for some reason. maybe cos it was straight album tracks, none of the remixes of Wu Tang etc that are my favourite bit of his normal live show. really dope visuals though, the way they react to the music is amazing.

also the venue was great - dingey little art studio in Dalston that let you bring your own booze in, and you could smoke inside which is a real rarity in London. great Jamaican food stall outside as well.

Fuck yea, DLG. Saw these guys live last year and they put on a hell of a show. They also usuually bring 3 or 4 bands on the road with em. I saw Murder By Death, which puts on a cool show. They could do a good soundtrack to a western. New Slang got good reviews everywhere, but I thought it was lame compared to 59 Sound.
Buy my mixtape.

they had chuck ragan opening, he was really good too. Would have loved to see Murder By Death.

I think that the other guitarist and bassist look a little like uninterested douchebags, but the lead singer is so into and so pumped and genuinely happy to be there that we makes up for it.

You can tell that the band and songs are his and the other guys are just the people who were lucky enough to tag along with him.

I got into American Slang after a while, not as good as 59 Sound, but it's got some bangers.

might go see Therion tomorrow night, might not. Mostly interested in the opening band Leprous, who are actually the backing band of Emperor's Ihsahn for his solo gigs.

Probably see The Ocean for the third time on Sunday night too.

I saw LCD soundsystem at the metro, that was awesome. I don't really think I need to describe it, we all know what happens there.

Chromeo on Halloween was a slutfest. I highly recommend going to see them if you're a fan of tits, 20 year old girls, and/or 20 year old girl's tits.

Capleton on Monday night.

He repeatedly misstated the town he was in for more than half the night, until his DJ finally came up and whispered in his ear that he wasn't where he thought he was. This is despite 200 drunken retards screaming at him every time he unknowingly fucked up. Amazing. He then continued to do it only occasionally throughout the rest of the night.

All in all though, great show, despite the fact that he's obviously censored himself in light of the flack he's caught for calling faggots fags. My cousin broke it down properly when he said it was like watching Belly on TNT.

PEACE

Saw No Age twice at the weekend. I think they're my favourite live act at the moment. Always a few surprises. Like when they played ATP and got Bob Mould onstage to do a Husker Du set.

This was a little more lo-fi, but they did a unexpected cover of Six Pack and just kind of injected a bit of fun into the set.

The following night I saw them do their live scoring of The Bear. I think they've done it before in the US. Really dope. If you ever get the chance to see them perform it then definitely try to go.

Just caught Echo & the Bunnymen (So basically Ian Mculloch and touring musicians) last night. They played Crocodiles and Heaven Up Here in their entirety. Pretty damn good show, but I will say, lead singer's accent is so ridiculously thick that you can only understand literally every 20th word that comes out of his mouth during his between song banter.

Was actually kind of impressed though, the mic sounded awful for the first couple songs and rather than acting like a bitch about it/storming of stage or something to that effect like i figured he might, Ian actually just rolled with it and ended up putting on a pretty amazing show.

Would definitely catch them again if they swing back through Chicago. Hopefully next time they don't play at another shit venue that serves 6 oz cups of High Life for 5 bucks.

recently I've seen Electric Wizard and Blood Farmers, Blind Guardian, Seven That Spells and Jenniferever.

I need to post some Seven That Spells in that modern psych rock thread, they fucking killed.
