Best Albums of the 1st Half?

Post by unclebengi »

Haven't been listening to much rock music, so I didn't try to come up with anything for the mix thread, but I'm interested in what everyone's favorite albums so far are.

Some of my favorites this year include-

Beach House- Bloom
Father John Misty- Fear Fun
Lotus Plaza- Spooky Action At A Distance
DIIV- Oshin
Dr. John- Locked Down
Ty Segall- Slaughterhouse
The Walkmen- Heaven

Bloom and Fear Fun being quite a bit better than everything else, here's some videos too-

don't think there was much from the second quarter to add to a best of the year list
purity ring -- shrines
the honeycutters -- when bitter met sweet
hot chip -- in our heads
maybe
do like that DIIV, haven't really bumped it a lot yet though

beach house & grimes still chilling at 1&2 for the year for me
have a feeling something very obvious is slipping the mind

On a phone so I can't post links but the new King Tuff is pretty killer. I think you can stream the whole thing on YouTube. Liked pretty much the whole thing except the fourth track. That song blows.

FUCK! How could I forget this one! The Page and At Your Door are probably my two favorite songs to come out so far this year.

I listened to every youtubve video in here and with the exception of the Dr. John one I don't see the appeal in ANY of them. theyre all fucking awful, IMO. the only halfway decent one is the Cold Specks one which was actually kind of good. I guess this is just not my kind of shit.

what are the rules on uploading newer albums on CYE? I'm in the process of downloading 75 percent of the albums in this thread and wouldn't mind uploading them later on.

listening to king tuff right now, pretty nice but the lead singer's voice kinda irks me

japandroids - celebration rock is another very good one

if it's new and for sale, don't do it

send links by pm or something, but we've had numerous issues with posting recent commercial releases. case and point, rip the Numero thread
