I thought Lullabies to Paralyze was pretty boring and thought that maybe losing Oliveri was a fatal blow. Then Era Vugaris came out and completely restored my faith in the band. There's not much here to really go off of with these samples, but it's good to know that another Queens album is on the way, and much sooner than I expected.

I hated Lullabies to Paralyze so much, I never even bothered to check Era Vugaris.
Might be time to give it a shot.

So what exactly did you guys hate about Lullabies?
Really looking forward to the new one...

Production didn't have the same expansive feel as Rated R and Songs For The Deaf. Not necessarily a problem if the songs were as good as the S/T debut, but they weren't by a good margin.ian e wrote:So what exactly did you guys hate about Lullabies?

Not mind blowing, but not bad either.

This leaked but all of the fucking links are down already.
I heard from a person that thinks that they can do no wrong... did no wrong with this album.

By no means is it their best album, but I'm still enjoying this quite a bit.

I really like the first song on this album.

Yeah. I think these guys have had their time. Sound is really dated and boring.SchoolMeOnGodsmack wrote:I really like the first song on this album.

QOTSA is our generations Dad Rock, along with bands like the Black Keys.
Guest spots by Elton John, James Lavelle and that lad from Arctic Monkeys?? RADICAL.
Re: Queens of the Stone Age - Like Clockwork (June 2013)
how is having elton john on their record not a RADICAL move?
perhaps having the latest indie electronic laptop producer faggot would've been more radical in your eyes?
or maybe you were hoping for yak balls?

Those guest spots just shout middle of the road to me.
And yes, Y@k Ballz was exactly who I was hoping for.

My problem isn't the sound, because all rock music sounds dated due to it being a genre that pretty much exhausted itself of ideas back in the mid 90s.
It's the songs; apart from Keep Your Eyes Peeled, they just aren't very good, imho

Album is terrific to my ears. I'm a big fan of their whole catalog and like the earlier hard stuff as much as the next guy, but this is a great record and well deserving of the #1 spot on Billboard. Only song I skip from time to time is "Fairweather Friends" - not because it is a bad song necessarily but the adlibbed parts from the supporting vocalists bother me.
