Kind of amused that they took the whole disco throwback thing or the live instrumentation to such an extreme. I didn't expect drum solos on a Daft punk album. Even the most synth-heavy stuff is really smooth and organic sounding. It's kind of funny that the dudes who wrote "Rollin' and Scratchin'" are now alienating their audience via production quality.

i'm trying to give it a chance, but this just doesn't sound right. compared to this, i'd rather have them try to make a dubstep album

I feel like if they didn't go this route, they'd come across as if they were imitating the current popular... EDM? group that's really just imitating Daft Punk from 10 years ago, and they'd be chastised for it. Regardless of whether or not that makes sense on any level, it's what I think would have happened.

I dunno if anybody who had anything to do with making this record had that same thought, but I feel like it's possible.
