I love his first 3 albums and play them pretty regularly. But I can't really get down with the direction these last few singles are sounding.

Haven't even listened to the new shit based on reactions in this thread alone. Does it really suck that bad?

There really isn't much worse than creepy Canuck date-rapists doing 3rd rate The Dream karaoke.

2 years from now you'll all be embarrassed you ever listened to this shit, and The Weeknd will only be remembered for looking like that mad suspect dude in the jean vest who got beat up and robbed in a hotel room by the 2 SODMG coke mules Lil' Flo and Agoff.

don't know if this article ever made the rounds here...

http://www.vice.com/read/how-the-produc ... ly-screwed

basically says that all the tracks that really got folks hooked on "house of balloons" were kinda this Zodiac's brainchild. i personally haven't been able to get into any of the other records the weeknd has put out since HOB. maybe some connection there.

nah, I heavily disagree.

Zodiac did a couple of dope songs on HOB but the best shit on their wasn't his (obviously thats open for debate) but either way Weeknd and co did some dope shit on the following two albums. I don't know what it is, but his recent shit is definitely sucking.

I got a zodiac album that he put out around the time of HOB...it's ok.

^ that

the new stuff marks a very conscious change in style, he's going for alternative stadium pop and it just doesn't work imo.

Wow, this explains everything. The fall-off in quality is definitely evident. Sucks for all parties involved, looks like ego got in the way.

it explains everything if you only really liked loft music and what you need. that's 2 songs out of a 30+ discography.
