probably not the 'coolest' choice in the nerd sense but Bowie's song is just too classic

It's #2 for me after Jesus Doesn't Want Me For A Sunbeam. I like the Vaselines original too. I'd have no idea who they were if not for Nirvana.

Great poll. Nothing comes close to Where Did You Sleep Last Night though, let's be real here.

That or the Bowie cover will end up taking this poll.

I'd say that the second best version after the MTV Unplugged performance is from a guest appearance Kurt did at a Mudhoney show in 1992. He loses his mind towards the end.

Where Did You Sleep Last Night? (Valencia 9-26-92)

The third best version is probably the acoustic demo from 1989.

Where Did You Sleep Last Night? (1989 Demo)

They didn't perform it anywhere near enough in concert. I'm only counting five live versions in my covers folder, and I'm pretty sure that I have just about every Nirvana show in circulation (courtesy of Zomb Torrents).

Yeah, good call. I don't think I've heard a Nirvana song that I don't like.

Word. Remember when this forum voted Pearl Jam over Nirvana in a best band poll?
Surely a low point in the :phila:'s history.

Roy do you have Nirvana stuff that hasn't been officially released?

The overwhelming majority of my Nirvana collection came from Zomb Torrents:

http://zombtracker.the-zomb.com/index.php

They have 630 Nirvana torrents listed. Every show that's currently in circulation should be there.

Demos, outtakes, alternate versions, etc are scattered all over the place, so if there's something you've been looking for, let me know.
