wow. this is rough. especially when it encompasses all genres. and it seems like most people in this forum have their own thing and its so much different from the next.

i get hyped over the year end mixes thread tho. best thread on the site imo

pretty spot on. my top 2 records haven't changed since before summer, being
jason isbell -- southeastern
mount moriah -- miracle temple
wouldn't see them getting much love around here (well, isbell some)
will be thinking more extensively
off the top
kacey musgraves -- same trailer, different park
kurt vile -- wakin on a pretty daze (title track a strong contender for song of the year)
deadstring brothers -- cannery row
sky ferreria -- night time, my time may be there, honestly haven't been listening to much new stuff these past few months

So far I heard less than 20% of things posted in here. If I posted my stuff.. I guarantee you all heard less that 20%.. maybe more... I just don't have the time.

Like my bloody valentine for instance... i didn't know they were around for 25+ years... i saw their name and always assumed they were an emo band..

thats why i love that year end mix thread.

Brandy Clarke,Lindi Ortega and Valerie June's albums are infinately better then that Kacey Musgraves..but they don't have major label push like Kacey Musgraves either.

don't know them asides from the little bit of ortega i searched out after you brought her up in regards to lydia loveless, haven't heard enough to really hold an opinion but she's cool, i'll give her most recent album a go here sometime soon. the mus is pretty legit/climbed the ranks rather admirably tho. albums a nice easy listen ideal for mowing the lawn in the summertimes or sipping some coffee in the mornings, will stay in your head for days

i get what you're saying about the female vocalists but... i would actually lol if someone came in all like "that luke bryan joint"

... got me thinking tho... now i'm not the 13 going on 30 times square bar hopper by any means... i actually perfer the wilderness on opium but I cant deny the really popular Lorde song... that song actually does it for me.

Kacey is the first millennial country artist. Writing credits doesn't really change that. I mean Shane McAnally wrote most of the songs on BOTH albums.
