There's a soundboard version of Desolation Row from the LA 9-3-65 show, but it's too fast-paced, so I wouldn't recommend it. The studio versions are vastly superior.

Manchester 5-7-65 is probably my all time favorite Bob Dylan show. It contains two of my top three tracks from the '65 tour - Don't Think Twice and The Times They Are A-Changin'. My vote in this poll goes to the former.

Yeah thanks for putting out the effort for this, I just haven't gotten a chance to listen to these yet.
Am definitely going to burn the whole show for my dad, whose an obsessive Dylan fan.

Yeah, I figured that I'd test the waters with this poll to see if there are enough Bob Dylan fans to do a batch of these.

62-63 Demos
65 Studio
John Wesley Harding Era
Blood On The Tracks Era

But I'll probably just move on to something else.

Great recordings in here! Voted Love Minus Zero -- always been a favorite.

Would love to hear any of the other eras if you have sets to upload.

I'm glad you're enjoying this stuff. I'll probably upload some more compilations in this thread.

yeah this was great, would appreciate more.
Burned this for my dad, whose pretty much the biggest Dylan fan in the world. He was pressing me for more information about where I got it and if I could get more.
didn't even try to explain the whole message board friend thing to him

hey Roy, hope you don't mind if i post this here since this is kinda the only active Dylan thread. if it's a distraction from your op and don't want it here go ahead and get rid of it.

Marcus Mumford, Elvis Costello, and My Morning Jacket’s Jim James are combining forced to record new versions of old, unrecorded Bob Dylan tracks. It’s all part of a project curated by T Bone Burnett and involving lyrics Dylan wrote in the ’60s, but never turned into actual songs. Dylan’s words will get matched to new music written for Lost On The River: The New Basement Tapes, which should see the light of day this fall. Similar to what Billy Bragg and Wilco’s Mermaid Avenue albums did with Woody Guthrie, Costello et al. will mix Dylan’s ideas with modern recording techniques and musical styles.

According to the L.A. Times, about 50 tracks have already been recorded, including songs by Carolina Chocolate Drops’ Rhiannon Giddens and Dawes’ Taylor Goldsmith. As the Times notes, all tracks are collaborations, and some sets of lyrics were handled by more than one set of artists, meaning multiple tracks use the same words.

The recording, currently taking place at Hollywood’s Capitol Studios, is also being documented by filmmaker Sam Jones (I Am Trying To Break Your Heart), and will be turned into a documentary to air on Showtime around the record’s release.

No problem. You're lucky, because my dad can't stand Bob Dylan. Seems like most people I know can't get past his voice.

That's fine - might as well use this as an all-encompassing Dylan thread

Wow, I almost never visit this forum but upon seeing this thread I was like, :ohsh:

It's always tough for me to narrow down a favorite live version (but definitely not impossible) since he was always a fantastic interpreter, or re-interpreter of his own tunes. Never wanted to perform anything the same way twice. (Guess that's the point of this poll.) I'm partial to Don't Think Twice, Gates of Eden, It's Alright Ma, Baby Blue, To Ramona and Love Minus Zero. I might be able to choose later.

On topic, you've seen Don't Look Back, right? I watch that once a year.

Best live Dylan song of all time for me is probably I Shall Be Released on The Last Waltz.

I've never seen it, but these are brilliant captures from the DVD:

To Ramona (Sheffield 4/30/65)
Love Minus Zero (Newcastle 5/6/65)
It Ain't Me Babe (London 5/10/65)
It's All Over Now, Baby Blue (London 5/10/65)

They were included on one of my favorite Bob Dylan bootlegs - Dimestore Medicine 1965 2CD

http://www.bobsboots.com/CDs/cd-d55.html

It's too bad that the full shows have yet to surface in comparable quality, because he was on fire in the spring of 1965.
