never actually listened to either beach house album, should probably get on that
youth lagoon as well. recently listened to a podcast (song exploder) where he talks about 'the knower' and fuck thats a good song
totally forgot about modest mouse and built to spill..for they were both mostly forgettable. one was far better than the other but the other had 'pistol' which is the most memorable thing about either

For me it feels like a more female vocal oriented year than any other in recent memory. Bjork, Chelsea Wolf, Courtney Barnett, Grimes, Joanna Newsom, Julia Holter, Laura Marling, Natalie Prass, Sleater-Kinney, Sunsanne Sundfør, and then there's the more mainstream stuff that I generally don't really check for nowadays when it comes to pop and /or singer-songwriter music, like Carly Rae Jepsen and Lana Del Ray.
