I voted for The Clash. Great band all-around.

Also, personally speaking:

The Kinks > The Beatles

T. Rex > Led Zeppelin

but like :phila: said, neither would have any chance of winning, so it doesn't matter if they aren't listed.

speaking of the kinks if anybody has the live version of "i'm not like everybody else" that they played on the sopranos in season 5 , i will give you a trial period in mp3x....

no joke

seriously though, where the fuck are the floyd fans at?

Fuck, that was a live version? I didn't notice, but I remember the episode you're talking about.

...er, what I meant to say was I have a live version that sounds EXACTLY like the studio version. Uncanny.

mud i'm a bigger floyd fan than pretty much anyone here, but Water's fuckery and shit like 'learning to fly' knocks them down significantly in comparison to sabbath (even with Dio) and zeppelin.

Call me a trendy revitalist, but I'd rather hear the Zombies Odessey and Oracle over Pet Sounds, any Rolling Stones album, and any Beatles album besides The White Album. If The Zombies put out more shit they'd definitely be contenders...

And CCR is the shit drizzle. I didn't check you on your Little Brother comment 2 pages back, but I will now. :ironmike: "Fortunate Son" is one of the best political tracks ever recorded and "Down on the Corner / Willie and the Po' Boys" is one of the best propulsive, albeit soulful, rock records ever recorded.

Oh yeah... Alice in Chains and :ohsh: Pearl Jam > Nirvana. Pearl Jam might have had annoying, borderline wack, "hits" in Jeremy, but Eddie Vedder has one of the best voices of his generation.

No trendy revivalism necessary to like Odyssey and Oracle, great album.

That's the version of "I'm not like Everybody Else" that I have. It's off Face to Face, but I don't know if it's the same as the Sopranos version.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that HAD The Sonics and Pavement been included in this poll.
It would have been end of story, son

a straight up Tie between the two.

that's a pretty fragile limb there...be careful it doesn't break and you wind up falling into Icesickle's bedroom.

Oh yeah, hendrix, tommy iomi, bill ward, jimmy page, jonh bonahm, Jeff Beck, horace andy, lee perry, rza, sinatra - all famous pavement dickriders. In fact i heard syd barrett killed himself because piper was so inferior to crooked rain

the only way your favorite artists are jocking pavement is if you're hitting refresh on pitchfork 20 times a day to get news of the new killers 3" distributed exclusively in japan and norway
:copy: /

On reflection, and if Wu solos ARE to be counted as Wu Tang albums, then I would have voted differently. As it is, i'll stick with Black Sabbath.

And MGP, don't forget about the influence of metal and punk on cats like Necro and fam. Didn't Ill Bill used to actually make metal before hip hop?

I couldn't bring myself to vote for The Beatles. It was between Led Zep or The Clash, i went with The Clash.

There are a few bands i've not really listened to there though...

I'm sure those that voted for the Beatles aren't voting on the Harrison catalog or the Wings stuff.

Why would people vote on a poll for bands and include solos from any :wutang: members?

For the record, this thread is hillarious...

Interesting fact for you guys - only one group discussed in this thread can claim to have created a whole new genre of music. And no it's not Pavement. Yet another reason why...

Wings sucked (minus Ram and Band on the Run) but George Harisson's first solo is brilliant
