fuck that, i want a militant pre-emo homo to come out of the woodwork talking about feelings and depression n' shit, so i can be all like 'bitch i'll make a depression in your forhead cause my nutz are so heavy". yeah, that'll be pretty sweetGregg Popabitch wrote:PHILA CLOSE THE THREAD BEFORE IT BECOMES ANOTEHR "Rick Rubin vs. Hip hop is dead" TYPE DEALIEdrizzle wrote:it's funny that it's close but only 2 people copped to nirvana so far

someone mentioned that Smells Like Teen Spirit is a rip off of More Than a Feeling....
well did you know that Come As You Are is a direct rip off of Killing Joke's song "Eighties"? they even got sued for it back in 91-92 but the lawsuit got dropped (I think there was a mutual respect on both parts) and Dave Ghrol ended up playing drums on their 2003 release.
huh?? I dont get it

It was just a self-indulgent shot.sneed wrote:Philaflava wrote:Nice that you care posts that aren't yours.sneed wrote:I'm not too big into the non singles off Appetite For Destruction....meanwhile I love every track off Nevermind...

This is interesting.
Many true heads are going to go with GNR.
The thing is that, I loved GNR in the 80's without a doubt. I grew up to it. Plus Slash is a more talented musician than anyone in Nirvana.
I voted for Nirvana, though. I know this seems out of my character but I can't help it. When I was 11, Nevermind was my shit.
The tracks on Nirvana hit the heart more than Appetite.
I actually think that this is a strange comparison because both bands aren't similar.

It's funny that people on a hip hop board have problems with an artist taking a riff from another artist and making a totally different song out of it.
Does Smells Like Teen Spirit sound like a cover of More Than a Feeling?
Nirvana were probably following their idols, Sonic Youth, who would rip off riffs from lots of other bands but distort them so much that they sounded completely different. The masters for Daydream Nation had a tracklist like "The ZZ Top Song", "The Montrose Song."

When we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality -- judiciously, as you will -- we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors . . . and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.

cobain is the only artist who's legacy might have benefited more than pac's from dying young.
by the time he went out he was starting to become a joke to many, but once he offed himself he became a legend.
end of the gnr destroys nevermind. not even close. appetite is infinitely more listenable than nevermind and i have never gotten sick of appetite, i go through periods of bordom with nevermind.
