War Pigs

Post by blastmaster »

Save for Paint it Black, I cannot think of a song that comes as close to perfection as War Pigs. The lyrics are pointed, but replace castrated cliches with dark imagery that enhances to the mood of the song. The riffs are brutally stong, sharp, and catchy. The drumwork is incredibly intense and driving. Throw in an understated, yet ill, guitar solo and put it in the hands of the best vocal performers the genre has ever known, and you get metal perfection.

Appreciate.

it's nitpicking, but the ONE thing that has always bothered me about this song is the rhyming of "masses" with "masses", right off the bat too. First two lines. And it's not like you can't make it out, cause the vocals are, aside from the hi-hat, the ONLY thing you're hearing.

but that's barely a complaint, and yeah the song is one of the greatest ever

The "War Pigs" solo is one of my all-time favorites, and I like this song much more than "Iron Man".

Paranoid>Led Zep IV
War Pigs>Stairway to Heaven

Off the top of my hungover mind, I can't think of a better hard rock album than this one. Riffs are unfuckwitable, lyrics are crazy but not self-parody and no one ever quite got the balance ever again. Paranoid (the song) is still my favorite off the record though.

I definitely disagree on War Pigs > Stairway, but now you've got me wondering if Paranoid is better than IV. It can't be. Can it?

Glad someone said it. I would find Led Zeppelin listenable if I didn't have to hear Robert Plant sing shitty lyrics with a grating incessant caterwaul.

the only song where Robert Plant REALLY bothers me is "The Song Remains the Same". Jimmy Paige puts on one of the greatest guitar expos of alltime on that track and Plant's voice is at its ultimate whiney-ing-est.

can someone upload Black Sabbath Vol. IV", by the way? and then perhas the debut as well?

No probs. 'Hand of Doom' is probably my favourite track, although 'Paranoid' is certified pub jukebox classic.

Such a great album - hard for me to pick between this, 'Black Sabbath' and 'Master of Reality'. Let me know if you like this one and i'll upload some others.
blastmaster wrote:Ron Dio and Sabbath are getting back together again to tour and hopefully record.
Ronnie Dio claims he was actually a better frontman than Ozzy. Wot a farkin' double yoker.

And yeah, whats with the Led Zeppelin hate? I'm surprised. My sister went to college with Robert Plant's son, Logan. Apparently he got more ass than a toilet seat.

And by the way, I think mud is joking.

not enough emoticons, we need a rock equivalent of :koolhercteardrop: for this

zeppelin hate is so unwarranted, sabbath is better but that still puts zep as #2 on the rock goat list
