not exactly what you're asking for but i remember seeing a really well-done documentary on the rise of grunge called hype!
Hype! includes interviews and performances from bands such as Mudhoney, Nirvana, Soundgarden, The Gits, Love Battery, Flop, The Melvins, Mono Men, The Supersuckers, Zipgun, Seaweed, Pearl Jam, 7 Year Bitch, Gas Huffer and Fastbacks. Other than the DVD that comes with Nirvana's With the Lights Out, it is one of the few films to contain video footage of Nirvana's first performance of their breakthrough hit song "Smells Like Teen Spirit".

You could always go for the classic "Another State of Mind" with Minor Threat and Socia D.

I didn't like that Metal: A Headbanger's Journey. The guy annoyed me and he overlooked so many awesome bands. Also the interviews were wack.

The Black Flag, Minor Threat and Dead Kennedys live dvd's are all essential.

Heavy Metal Parking lot is amazing.

While not a documentary, you should also see Fubar.

One of the great mockumentaries and truly ahead of its time.

Heavy Metal parking lot is a gem, but you could probably you tube it. The best is when this kid pretty much hits the homo on the head about Halford, about a decade before he came out.
