Gotta love some Belgian or German metal.

LENG TCH'E are from Belgium. They fucking rock.

The Ocean are from Germany. They fucking rock as well. If you don't have Aeolian by The Ocean, you should look into it.

Opeth are from Sweden. Good band.

Gojira are from France. Going to see them the 5th.

In Flames from Sweden before they went

Gothenburg bands in general have been pretty reliable.

in one of my classes we watched a documentary made in early 90s Cuba that basically matched the pro-Castro regime Cubans against the anti-Communist Cubans and they interviewed this Cuban metal band (metal i guess more in the hardcore sense, less in the Black Sabbath sense) and had footage one of their concerts (moshpit and all). wish i caught the name. they also had some shitty rap group that had hilariously generic rap lines, or it could be that the translations were just dumbed down and wrong. they also showed a bunch of people dancing to Vanilla Ice.

i bet Red Scare's seen this.

Opeth, Dark Tranquility and At The Gates were all from their. I used to go to melodic death metal shows up in montreal and in worcester all the time.

Dimmu Borgir is a pretty insane Norwegian band. They wear corpse paint and inject jack daniels into their vains.

Blind Guardian is my favorite german and probably the most popular german metal band. Their music is basically a soundtrack to LOTR, but in a good way.

Can up albums of any of these bands if people want.

Anyone hear of some band named Korpiklaani? I think that's their name. From Finland I think...kinda celtic/folk metal about drinking and uh...the woods. Interesting stuff.

Gojira = the most exciting band I've heard in a very long time.

Their sound is rooted in the golden age of death metal, first four Morbid Angel albums type of shit, with a doomy atmosphere that reminds me of a mix of mid-period Neurosis and Paradise Lost - Draconian Times.

Even though I appreciate fast, brutal shit like Behemoth, Krisiun, and technical stuff like Psyopus and Necrophagist, death metal has become more of a sport (who plays the fastest blasts at what bmp, etc) and lost the essence an atmosphere that first drew me to the genre.

That being said, Gojira is a definate breath of fresh air.

My favorite metal band is Sweden's Meshuggah.

And in all phases from early to now,

Soilwork >>>>>>>>>> In Flames

btw, I'm new here.

'sup.

edit, also, Brujeria is made up of dudes from Fear Factory and Obituary I think...they just pretend to be Mexican.

man that blows

Gojira has a new album out soon, right? I can't find a solid release date

I just realized not too long ago that Byzantine (from WV) is on the same label as them

my brother talks to OJ (singer/guitarist) on the phone all the time and just did some graphics for them. And apparently he's married to some girl my bro was really good friends with in college.

Byzantine is pretty lame though.

I hate on most metalcore like most old heads hate on dirty souf stuff.

It's like, it was interesting when it came out, but then 10,000 bands playing the same exact shit, wearing the same exact tight jeans and vintage metal shirts and emo haircuts sprouted out of nowhere once it became cool.

Back in the mid-90s when I was repping at the gates and helloween and inflames, cynic, where were these kids? listening to sublime and korn and hating on my faggy metal bands.

shits all fake and I hope it ends soon.

the couple first bands in it Killswitch, Shadows Fall, As I Lay Dying, I liked when they popped out, but now it's all so stale and formulaic.

swedish metal verse, emo chorus, repeat, breakdown, repeat from beginnning, another breakdown, pantera riff outro.

rant over :megaman:

LOL, I hate that shit too.

My brothers and I refer to that as the "gay voice".

Like:

"What up, how's that new metal band?"

"It's aight...too much gay voice tho."
