troy is one of the most memorable, important tracks that has ever been made. times up just happens to a more meaningful track.
vote troy.

As much as I like TROY, I went with Time's Up. Why? Because that song alone really was something different. The way OC's flow is laid down on that track is something that alot of rappers couldn't pull off like that. A real offbeat yet onbeat punchline flow that I know I wasn't ready for. TROY is a classic and always will be. As far as somethin different from what people weren't really used to, I had to go with Time's Up.

It has been argued that T.R.O.Y. is the greatest rap song of all time. I don't know if that's true; take away Pete Rock's soulful production, and you've got a pretty sparse rhyme that Special Ed wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole. Meanwhile, O.C. is lyrically devastating on "Time's Up" and the beat carries his lyrics adeptly throughout the track.
However, I would argue that T.R.O.Y. is a better piece of music, a more listenable and enjoyable song. "Time's Up" is for rap fans; pretty much anyone will nod their head to T.R.O.Y.
I'm giving it to Pete Rock and CL.

I love these moronic douchebag hypotheticals. Take away the beat entirely and the song just doesn't slam as hard in the benzy box! WTF kind of quantum theory space bullshit is this?
Anyway, "Time's Up" wins this.

Heavy D's cameo on "The Basement" > all rap in the new millenium.
