Q-Tip interview + ATCQ Lost Demo's

Post by L.Marauder »

Saw Q-Tip gracing the cover of Filter magazine at the bookstore, so how could I resist not buying it? A Tribe Called Quest remains my favorite hip-hop group of all time. I still got Midnight Marauders or The Low End Theory on rotation at least once a week. (Upped this mostly for the heads outside of the US who would have to get this imported, if itג€™s against forum policy let me know.)

Q-Tip reminisces the Tribe days...

How did The Low End Theory influence The Chronic?

Any prospects for a Tribe reunion album?

Whatג€™s Tipג€™s stance on the current state of hip-hop?

Read the interview to find outג€¦

Threw in the Tribeג€™s Lost Demos. Every Tribe fan needs to hear this if they havenג€™t. Honestly, how sick is Tipג€™s voice!??:

01. Practice Session (Demo Mix)
02. Rock 'n' Roll (Jay Dee Mix)
03. Get the Money (Dong and Andy Remix)
04. The Riot (Laid by Mix)
05. Put It Down
06. Girls (The Ummah Mix)
07. Waiting on You (On the Q Mix)
08. Weekendz (DJ Crazy Mix)
09. Get It Up (Phife House Mix)
10. Wifey ('AJ' The Booty Banger Production)

Hah, I also read this article recently. It was an okay interview, but I was hoping for word of a Tribe reunion.

Shit.

Preciate the demos, I had no idea they even existed and I'm a huge Tribe fan.

If ATCQ was marketable today or even the least bit profitable they would have dropped a reunion album. They toured together 2 years ago on the 2K Bounce tour. They did a few songs, one which was released officially but the times are against them.

I'd LOVE to have an album even though it'll sound more like The Love Movement than anything they've previously done.

Agree. Also think Phife's on-going battle with diabetes may have something to do with it. It's sad how Hip-Hop's got such a short career-span for artists. I mean true Tribe's done a lot, but they're only like what 37, 38? Q-Tip's supposed to drop a new album soon, 2 albums actually this year. Hmm... we'll see.

Glad I could bring the demos to ya'll.

If they were to drop it'd be fire. They don't even have to tour. Just drop something that adds on to their legacy. Let Kanye west, Madlib, Q-Tip, and others do production. Shame they stopped and moved on to other things. That said, props on posting this, I'm download it now man.
