Sun Rises had the best tracks, but Wrath of Math is the best album.

Have they ever remastered Sun Rises?

It sounds like Jeru didn't even take the mic out of the box before he recorded it.

Im going with Sun Rises on this one. If I wasnt listening to Illmatic in 94 it was this. Not over long, some of my favourite Primo beats and not really a weak track on there.

Wrath is cool but not quite as consistent imo

are there any alternate versions/outakes etc from either of these around on the net?

I think a combination of both, would be GOAT, but if i have to go with 1, i would def pick Sun Rises In The East, simple because of these classics (to me):

Ain't The Devil Happy, Can't Stop The Prophet (Pete Rock Remix), Come Clean.

I'll go with Sun, but Wrath has "Whatever," which I could never play out.

jeru got noticeably worse on the second album. the beats are hot as shit and there are definitely some great songs but come on...SRITH is a classic. WOTM is not.

Both albums are personal favorites of mine, but I have to give the nod to "The Sun Rises In The East".

I basically cosign everything that Jeru has to say on both LPs.

sun rises easily

wrath of the math is far less than the sum of its parts...it has a bunch of really good songs....in fact basically all the songs are good but theres something about the album that annoys the shit out of me that i cant really put my finger on

agreed on the recording levels of sun rises...they are way to low...however the overall grimey production gives it a really dope feel...and much like 36 chambers its an album that i wouldnt want remastered

fyi sun rises was like may 94....i remember street level illmatic and sun ries coming out within like month of each other...if my memory serves i think street level and sun rises might have even been released on the same day...pretty amazing time for hip-hop

I remember copping the 36 Chambers and Midnight Marauders
tapes at the same time, on their release date. I'm pretty positive on that.
Incredible.

Sun Rises, not a weak track on that album & Jeru's verse on Mental Stamina is classic. Follow-up was nice though, Invasion>>>>>>>

Both of em, ridiculously dope to me.

I think WOTM was slept on as far as its classic status.

But, I'll go with Sun Rises. Its in my top 10 all-time.

The Sun Rises In The East, no question.
Jeru's style is slick.
