Nice writeup, looks like a good mix.

Exclusive interview from my site:
The L.G. Experience, Patrick Harvey, Easy Mo Bee's Younger Brother

What up. I have no problem talking about a legend like Big L.

I met Big L through Scoob Lover, Big Daddy Kane's dancer. Scoob had L come meet me at Soundtrack Studios in '93 where I used to record at. He was looking for beats. He picked some beats but we never recorded anything.

About a year and change later Faith Newman, Columbia A&R, wanted a remix from me for Put It On. I did the remix at the original Chung King Studios. Nobody knew it was my brother Easy Mo Bee doing the scratches on the record.

I hooked up with L again in '96. My cousin was seeing a chick who lived in L's building on 139th. We talked about doing some shit but it just never happened. I was outta town when I heard he got killed. The game could use that dude right now.

Anyway, as far as your question about my name L.G., that's the name of the housing projects I grew up in. Lafayette Gardens in Bed-Stuy Brooklyn.

If it's anything else I can help you with, just holla at me. Anything associated with some real hip hop, I'm fuckin' wit' it. I'm still doing my grizzly on them beats so if you know somebody looking for hip hop, holla.

Dope, I had a feeling that he was somehow related to Easy Moe Bee, I'm going to add that, thanks Big Sleep.

nice comp Jaz, big up. I was hoping you might have that LG-produced Charlie Brown joint I've been looking for.
it uses the same beat as Craig Mack's 'Makin Moves With Puff'. it may or may not be called 'whatcha gonna do for me'. heard it around summer 95

anyone know anything about this?

StepOne - did you hear this on the Westwood show by any chance? I'm sure I have this on a tape somewhere, but I thought it was just a freestyle.

If you haven't already got a tape rip and assuming I can find it - next time I get my amp and tape deck out the loft I'll rip and post it - but this might take a few months...

yeah, I heard Westwood play it once or twice. I dont think it was a freestyle as it had a definite verse/chorus structure from what I remember. Im sure someone told the name of it but it was one of those title-has-nothing-to-do-with-the-song things.
I only know it as 'Whatcha Gonna Do For Me'

I'm wondering if it maybe Charlie Brown got the beat from LG first (he shouts him out in the song: 'C Boogie Brown and L to the G, ghetto gangster beats that rock' or something) and then Puffy took it for Craig Mack's album.

anyway, a rip of it would be appreciated as I dont have my tape of it anymore. Its not listed on discogs or anything.

@ Jaz: is there any chance you could contact LG and ask him about this joint?

heard back from him re the Charlie Brown joint. Its not one his unfortunately. the search continues..

Step One whats good. I did not produce the track your talking about. I
do know charlie but I had nothing to do with that track. I don't know
if u remember a producer dj name Epitome of Scratch. He was down with
Eric Sadler from da Bomb Squad. There was an LG that worked with him
and alot of those guys from Long Island. They all came up together,
Epitome,Charlie so maybe there's a connection.
