Adagio. They were supposed to drop an album in 2003, and disappeared.

Yeah, all I know about Adagio is that it's two dudes:
The Obvious Wonder (Big Cousin) from Philly
Reign Supreme from Uptown Manhattan
Sometimes collaborator was Wizdom, who was on All Star Jam and had
those "Its Rare" and "Angel" songs. He was really fuckin ill.
Anyone know if he did anything else?
His style reminded me off Breez Brewin(who they were down with).
There was another Wizdom who was not as ill, imo.
Add on, add on....

real dope.
It also had a video I can't find on youtube.
I don't know if they even did anything other than that record.
Edit: Echo re-released that song with 2 others a year or two later:

Genesis- only a couple of demos, a couple of freestyles (probably all on KCR) and an appearance of Vast Aire's last joint. Mad talent. And something like 6'10" or taller or some shit like that
Piakhan- 3 singles, and a semi-career of cameos. There were two, maybe three demos played on CM Famalam (at least one produced by Hi-Tek) that were dope but never released. Style was described by Bobbito as "Lazy, but at the same time fierce!"

I've always wondered what the fuck happened to Knucklehedz...
I love their shelved debut album from 1993... I have the actual promo CD and both 12" singles. I liked Tom J and Steve Austin's raps and I've heard various Hiphop heads in recent times like DJ Premier (on his Sirius radio show) shout Tom J out sayin shit like "big ups to Tom J... ran into him over the weekend..."

What ever happened to HARD 2 OBTAIN??? Their debut album ISM & BLUES was one of my favorites from '94.
And of course, what happened to InI??? Why did Pete Rock stop workin with them??? Were they just annoyed of the industry politics regarding their album never dropping??? I know Deda Baby Pa just stopped rappin around '95 and was into other shit... And Mekolicious stopped cuz of being annoyed of the industry politics.

As far as I know, Ism and Blues didn't sell very well and they were dropped from the label, also Dante Ross and the group had a massive falling out, I can't find the link anymore, but Dante was saying that DJ of the group (I forget his name at the moment) added nothing to the group and was lazy etc.Hip_Hop_Head_SF wrote:What ever happened to HARD 2 OBTAIN??? I don't know why INI never did anything else, but it wouldn't come as a shock if it had to with industry politics like Mekolicious.
Does anyone know who The Cutthroats were?, did they ever do anything else besides "Stop Looking At Me"? that was one of the most requested tracks in 1993 on my old radio show
^^That 'falling out' would explain his negative comments about "Ism And
Blues" on the TROY blog, I guess.
Godfather Don is part of a Jazz trio, afaik. I think he was finished creatively
with hip hop and wanted to artistically expand.

DJ Nastee??? He produced a few songs on that album (including the other song only on one of the promo 12" singles) if I remember correctly. So the DJ was lazy, big deal? That album was DOPE, but I guess mostly due to the beats. I guess it doesn't surprise me it didn't sell well based on the fact that it came out in '94 when so many classic albums came out. I was always jockin the artists/groups who came outta Long Island being that's where I'm originally from. I should do a mix cd or 2-hour radio mixshow special of all L.I. shit sometime...Jaz wrote:As far as I know, Ism and Blues didn't sell very well and they were dropped from the label, also Dante Ross and the group had a massive falling out, I can't find the link anymore, but Dante was saying that DJ of the group (I forget his name at the moment) added nothing to the group and was lazy etc.Hip_Hop_Head_SF wrote:What ever happened to HARD 2 OBTAIN??? Travis at WYDU had the most info I've found, and received a comment on the blog years ago by some woman claiming to be his student or something and not believing him about making music so she looked him up and would be providing more info and try to get Frankenstein to respond or provide more info, blah blah blah, she never returned.Verge wrote:^^That 'falling out' would explain his negative comments about "Ism And

A friend told me to read your review and I begrudgingly agreed. Have to say itגs the most accurate review I read about my album. Pretty much describes where my head was at the time. LOL. Almost makes me miss being a rapper.
Oh Word,
Anttex
Big Ish? 18 year old cat from South Bronx which recorded the illest motherfuckin' demo I've ever heard then he died.. or something. I don't know.
Also, MC Serge.. what happened to him? Did he quit rappin' totally when he lost that freestyle battle versus Freshco back in the days? His track "Both Sides" which was on a Stretch & Bobbito show in 1993 was the SHIT. I wish he did more joints, maybe he did? I don't know..

To me, Anttex was J-Zone BEFORE the world even heard about J-Zone.
I found so many similarities between both of them... Very sarcastic, self-produced & engineered... And a lot of people still don't know Anttex's LP was the first album where a young Havoc could be heard.

There was a very good interview with him at Unkut a while ago.
I can't get to it from work, but he speaks on how he was signed,
in the process of making an album, and the label wanted him to jump
on that jiggy bs and even said they wanted to make him into some sort
of neo Slick Rick. He wasn't beat and left the label.
I might be a little off about all of this, it's just how I remember it.
Co sign on Lord Digga.
No Sleep might have had something in store of his unreleased 90's
stuff, but I don't know if they folded or what.
Not for nothing, but to me: Lord Digga>>>>>>>>>Masta Ace

Lakim Shabazz needs to keep doing music. The brother was crazy nice (voice, skills, flows, content) and probably still is. He also co-produced a joint on Diamond D first album.... Yo Lak, are you out there?! You need to hit up the 45 King and do this!!!!weekdaywarrior wrote: Last I heard Lakim works at a hospital in East Orange as a security gaurd..
