the keith/menelik "operating room" demo was released on menelik's cyclops 4000 lp as "next phase." it was produced by pimpin rex.
No doubt, but I'm just the demo separater, hah. Yeah I realized that after I posted it...and I had that Menelik record, lol. I think the other one ("so intelligent" og) may have been on there as well. But the sound quality on that album was god awful.

True. Could we expect anything less from Eclipse? If only we were all audiophiles like that.

hey Eclipse not to jump the gun but Aleph ripped this one. he sends me the rips first since they are my tapes. and ours is longer...

they seem to be the same quality though

just letting u know
@nobs & aleph...I'm confused. Is it the 1/25/96 show or the 2/9/95 show that you have that (pause) is longer? Or is it both?

Here's the 2/9/95 show updated to include all parts.

Part 2: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=1U1PJTUE

@brandanevans thanks.

I think I mentioned it before, but pretty much all the shows that I DJ'd on I used to record on dat up at the station. So no station signal issues on those recordings. BUT I did end up dumping those dats down to tapes so my posts here are me ripping from those tapes (as I would reuse the same dat to record). I also, at some point, would record at home on dat as to get the entire show and then bounce those down to tapes too. So those ones would have normal signal static, but I would be precise as to where to pause when flipping the tape as to not miss ANY audio from normal tape flipping.

Excellent work as usual, Eclipse! Our 1/25 rip caught 3 min. of a couple of breaks, incl. Funky Worm before Mic Geronimo. You got everything else, so it's not worth posting ours. Did someone else dj before you? As for the 2/9/95 show, the tape jammed a couple of times, hence the gaps.

Can't beat that set-up. I've had to resort to some creative editing to "hide" tape-flip gaps but only where it was possible to do so. Some were seamless, others ehhhh...

@aleph gotcha. As far as the 1/25 show Bob probably just threw a record on before I started. Don't really recall.

2/1/96 Full show (unless someone comes up with a few more minutes).

AYO!

I haven't listened to Eclipse's rip but I think his shows have a fuller sound. Which is to be expected, y'know, his profession IS sound, after all. Eclipse = pro, aleph = rank amateur. Could be a matter of signal strength, quality of tapes, but I can't tweak or EQ for shit so with mine it's what you hear on tape is what you get.
It's really about the the quality of tape deck and quality of tape that was used to record at the time. I always recorded in mono to avoid that stereo static sound. Eclipse's recordings all sound like a high quality tape deck and tape were used which obviously converts better to mp3 @192.
haha. mad AYOs. no sweat. i just let Aleph rip it and we take it from there. your rips are great E!

Wait, it depends on if 45Rec meant 103 minutes instead of 1 hour and 3 minutes. The former would mean that serch is right and it's dutchmin "surrounded".

1/16/97 guests- Artifacts, Mad Skillz, Crash Crew, Lonnie B, Danja Mowf
the Tragedy joint is "Leviathan"
Thanks kid Leviathin is the one
Thanks! I should have been able to figure that one out, lol.

Do you know if it was only on this white label/unofficial double 12"?

I heard something about a Test-Pressing on 25 Ta Life. But I didn't know about that white label, I will have to track that down..
yeah that thing never shows up..

that's a good question. i'd also like to know. also, do they sell just general stretch and bob shirts anywhere - no necessarily anniversary shirts.

If you mean the one that Reflexions used for "This Could be the day", it's:
Donovan - Get Thy Bearings

You might know those horns from something, too.

EDIT: Ooooh, another show, lol. Thanks!

yo Verge, that dude had a ill rhyme and so did soul survivor his rhyme was dope too.
but that fun-loving guy from flushing had the most funniest rhyme i heard on that show. S&B and Sear slayed him, that was madd funny.

and that dude who called in and said Buckshot "I aint No joke" was wack straight played himself. i wonder does he still thinks that now in hip-hop's present state.
Hah, there was that one caller on a rip from a few pages back that called in and said, "yo, who the fuck is them 'sweater dwellar' niggaz yo, they wack.."
I thought that shit was hilarious. I wouldn't be too surprised if he was dude from "Pretzel's Logic" who dissed Cella Dwellas on record for no apparent reason, cause his voice did sound similar.

Yeah, I chopped that Soul Survivor phone freestyle up too. He mentions that Shabaam Sahdeeq is his boy and Bob tells him to send in a demo. I wonder if he ever did... Here's that call:
Soul Survivor - phone freestyle 1 16 97
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=37VAMK9T

And here's a small part of the "fun loving, vinyl buying, fun crushin kid from flushing, touching all..."
fun loving touching phone freestyle fail:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=UFEEG041

I only chopped it up for the laughs for some reason, I didn't separate the whole call.

Ah, that's hot, thx. A coincidence you brought up that single bc I just heard that sample a couple of days ago as part of an old Monk One set. Of course those horns have been used to def, but remind me which cut it's on? I'm drawing a blank.

After Earth Wind & Fire it's Donald Byrd "Places and Spaces" sampled by Pete Rock & CL Smooth for "All the places".
After Das EFX and before Souls of Mischief, Bobbito talks over Roy Ayers "Boogie back"
And the L-Swift joint called "Check da Style" from the 12inch "How it's going down"
Big thanks, Chris. "Places and Spaces" is the joint I wanted to know the most.

listening to those samples that Bobbito played on that last show that was posted is crazy, its amazing how producers take samples and flip them the way they do. its just mind blowing.

what part of the game is that????? these are the most absurd things i heard in a long time!! SMH!!

these people are calling up complaining about whats wrong wit hip-hop in 1995!!!!?? this is the golden era and they callin up having issues about everything wrong in 1995 up to that point, this is straight up sad man!

but Bobbito is wrong for saying that he dont care for Lost Boyz? In '95 Lost Boyz was dope!! then Bobbito says he dont like people callin him son cause he feels disrespected? Yo, in NYC sayin son is part of the vocab. That aint goin nowhere and its 2011!!
well i guess at the time it was like it is now with hip hop..there will always be haters
Compared to the late 80s or early 90s, hip hop was watered down in 1995, especially when Puffy changed the rules of the game. He was forcing Biggie to rhyme over R&B beats, plus all of his singles featured crooners. Back then, lots of hardcore heads, mainly those guys that have been around in the 80s, were complaining about that direction.
@ BrandonEvans

That's Hiphop for ya! haha No matter what or when, people will hate on shit, period. Of course now in 2011 we look back and think how ILL Hiphop was in 1995, but when you actually lived during that time like myself (I was 20/21), you can kinda understand. The Lost Boyz were cool then, sure, I even liked them, but come on, they were borderline commercial. Bobbito has always seemed to hate shit like that. Didn't he even say something like there wasn't that much good Hiphop after '92 or something??? When Biggies album came out, I liked him, actually liked him a lot and since I first heard him in '92, but yeah, I really couldn't stand songs like "Big Poppa" and all that more radio type shit. When hardcore Hiphop heads would hear anything like that, they would IMMEDIATELY write that person off and claim they are wack. Based on things DJ Premier has said, even Biggie didn't wanna make them gay ass radio songs, but he did wanna get paid at the same time so he listened to Puff and made songs for the radio. And back in '95, Hiphop was starting to get watered down compared to previous years like Kool Max Power said.
"Wicked = Genuinely loves Hiphop and respects it because he grew up during the time when it wasn't full of southern mongoloids and Lil Wayne rappers. From his mixes you can tell he knows his shit.
