Ah, well I've got about 5 albums by him and they're all dope: Coffin For The Head of State, Gentleman, Yellow Fever / Na Poi, The 69 Los Angeles Sessions...

Probably start with the 69 Sessions.

I was intoduced to him through this double cd compilation called The Two Sides of Fela. One disc is 'the jazz side' and the other is 'the dance side'.

Really though, I doubt you'll go wrong with any of his shit.

Expensive Shit is another must grab from Fela too, the music is great, but the story behind it is even better-
The title of the album refers to an incident in which the Nigerian police tried to arrest Kuti by planting a joint on him. Kuti managed to eat the joint, prompting police to bring him into custody and wait for him to produce the excrement. According to legend he managed to use another inmate's feces and was eventually released.
I got it in a 2 for 1 that also had this great Fela album (also from '75)-
Image

Here's a link for both- http://www.megaupload.com/?d=IS2IRUE4

Both albums were produced by Ginger Baker.

After listening to this song, you will notice the suggestive album cover.

[quote="Verge"]Alright, fellas. Moving right along into a Funk Soul classic that you should know at least one track from.
"We The People" was often used as a break record for b-boys and girls to get their boogie on to.
Great, great, song. Classic soul, IMO.
But, besides that, mostly the whole album is really dope.

I would say Funk and Soul with a Jazz type tinge to it.
This was a holy grail to me for awhile, before my internetting days.
It probably goes for about $50-$75 mint, which doesn't sound like alot, but fuck you, it is to me.

The Soul Searchers went on to create that D.C. go go sound that I believe was realized completely on the "Chuck Brown & The Soul Searchers - Bustin' Loose" album.
They only had 1 other album between these two as just The Soul Searchers called "Salt Of The Earth", which I'll upload soon.

01 - We The People
02 - Your Love Is So Doggone Good
03 - It's All In Your Mind
04 - Soul To The People
05 - Think

Can anyone help me out here please?
http://headlampshovel.blogspot.com/2009 ... r-you.html
I need the password but can't solve it for shit. I'm sure one of you more smart dudes can get it since there's at least a few others who have. One cat says he figured it out "from the information on your blog."

I usually am good at shit like this but I'm drawing blanks here.
Any help appreciated and you should get a nice slab of privately pressed soul jazz in return. :)

 Thanks much fellas! That did the trick drizzle.
I had tried copying and pasting his name from the bottom of his posts but i guess it didn't work cause it was in capital letters. I don't know how you figured out that it had to be lower case, but thanks.
