props for all the singles.. both albums + the two previous are essential in any serious hip-hop collection and i think they are all amazing. picking from these two i think i might have to go with "Let The Rhythm Hit 'Em" though, the title track on there - WOW!!

only problem i have with that album is that the sound quality ain't very good, did anyone else notice that? it often sounds kinda muffled and the beats are louder than Rakim's vocals. i've got the original European CD pressing, can anyone tell me if this problem remains on the LP. if not, i will have to cop that too

I'm just messing but as far as the whole work thing. It's not like being a mod in TROY requires hours. I just meant you'd be able to create daily or weekly polls without any assistance. You're the man.

Disappointed with both when they dropped, but was less so by LTRHE. Also the sentimentalist in me lovingly pores over the last vestiges of Paul C.

Only many, many years later did I realise that I had been listening to Eric B and Rakim as a young kid. CSB.

Don't Sweat The Technique is the first Eric B & Rakim album I've heard, and it holds a special place in my heart.
Production is amazin' (imo), and Ra comes correct as always on the lyrical tip.

My favorite Rakim album shifts between Follow the Leader and LTRHE every few months or so. For me, In the Ghetto, No Omega, Mahogany and the title cut are enough to put it over Don't Sweat the Technique and Paid in Full. I realize the 2nd part of that statement is batshit to most of you.

The 2nd verse of In the Ghetto is my favorite Rakim verse.

Casualties of War is great though (as are most of its 30 remixes).

Props to Jaz.

jaz - yeah you might be right. but what i meant was for "Let The Rhyrthm Hit 'Em", the beats are louder than Ra'svocals on most of the songs on that album. if i'm listening through speakers it's really, really hard to catch what he's saying adn in headphones ican hear it but i need to really concentrete. this is the only Rakim album i have this problem with.

so how does the vinyl edition sounds in that matter?

This is actually for a wack ass R&B-ish remix of "Mahogany". I had the 12" and it's garbage. I don't think a proper instrumental for "Mahogany" exists. Although the beat would be easy to recreate, as it's just two Al Green loops with some 808 kicks.

LTRHE is my favorite Eric B & Rakim album, so I gave it my voice from the start... But it's pretty hard to pick up one album among their catalogue, all 4 are huge classics.

Yes, there were multiple remixes of Casualties of War and they even released the instrumentals to a couple of those remixes. However, what I find most frustrating is that they did NOT release the instrumental for the album version?

 that is odd...why would they not put on that any of the C.O.W. 12"s?
