Soundcloud/Mixcloud thread

Post by Thirteen »

If any body has them, bust them shits.

I was using soundcloud but I used the 120 minutes up in one track.

Mixcloud on the other hand gives you unlimited uploads. Anyway, if you have a soundcloud or any mixes/tracks that you want to share, post them up!

This audio brings good memories, Ol' Dirty Bastard, 12 O Clock and Buddha Monk at a radio station in my neighborhood of Harlem during the release of Brooklyn Zoo as a single. I remember having some hard times of life at this time but the Wu Tang element of Hip Hop at the time provided good escapism.

I was thinking of a thread idea similar to this, but for the purpose to archive the music social accounts of our favorite artists. Every week I discover a new one (Prince Paul, Kenny Dope, K-Def etc.)

Try using a different email if you want more upload space, I have one with an email account and another with my Facebook. Soundowl is another account that gives you unlimited upload space.

My main gripe with SoundCloud is that it has automatic copyright breach detection. It scans the waveform of your mix/track immediately after it's finished uploading, looking for matches with songs that are in its database and if it finds one, then it blocks you from uploading that particular mix/track. 3 of my mixes have been blocked because of it.

Mixcloud doesn't have that, but it doesn't offer users a download option for mixes (although you can download using a workaround, but not everyone knows this).

Mixcrate is OK and gives you 190 MB of space per mix, with no limit to the number of mixes you can upload, plus it gives users the option to stream or download. The main downsides to it are that it doesn't have the embedding options of the other 2 (along with some other options), it doesn't look quite as nice, and not that many people use it in comparison to SoundCloud/Mixcloud, but if you just want somewhere to put your mixes up for free and you want to allow downloads as well as streaming then it's a good option.
