What's the best Chubb Rock album?

Post by claaa7 »

I've heard lots of Chubb Rock features throughout the years and always liked his voice and delivery but i never went after his own material. i see he has about four or five albums out so I was wondering which LP y'all would recommend as the best starting point and if there anything is to avoid.

I also noticed he hasn't had a solo album out since 1997, anyone know why that is?

feel free to mention your favorite guest features too.. one of my faves is the track "Dummy Smacks" with Mr. Live from Mr. Len's solo debut (seriously underrated album btw)

i have to agree with Magneto. who said this not long ago in another thread that Hitman Howie Ts production isnt that memorable. i have to vote for "the mind" wich is amazing because he's the only rapper who debuted in the 80ies that made his (imo) best album that late
his best early record is "the one" and the sophomore has some early trackmasterz and iirc theres a cool posse cut with a few rappers

dope recent collabo
<object width="560" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/0TfXtcvmkiw?ve ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/0TfXtcvmkiw?version=3&hl=de_DE" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="560" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

and i just stumbled around this new feature on youtube looking for the knaan joint

Rockin Robin is Lady Of Rage right? I seem to remember an interview with her where she says something about rolling with Chubb Rock before she was signed to Death Row.

Chubb's verse >>>>>

Is this Cypress Hill diss, if yes, whats the story behind it?

And yes, Tone is underrated as fuck, his #1 Player album is so dope.

i wouldnt say underrated. he made one album as a rapper and then stuck to production and made millions.

I love this thread.
About 2 months ago I came across this

And immediately copped his discography.

Chubb was on a couple of tracks and Exec producer and his brother Hot Dog was in the group.

The Chubbster is dope and he appreciates his fans on Facebook too, he told me he really enjoyed reading this post I did on Hitman Howie Tee and said Howie appreciated it as well.

I have all of the 12" remixes of Chubb's singles if you need them as well fam.

disagree strongly, go back and listen to Special Ed's first 2 albums, Little Shawn's debut and Chubbs' first 3 albums, Tee's production was simple, catchy and effective, Pop-Rap done right.

Jaz: thanks, downloading now. I actually haven't heard the entire A.T.E.E.M. album, i know who they are and heard a few tracks but i need to check it out asap. especially based on your recommendation since you always bring out good shit!! props bro

btw: i've had a Diamond D remix of ATEEM's "Yeah" for a good while but i never managed to find any confirmation that it was actually Diamond D who made that remix. anyone know this and could clear that up`?

btw: i've had a Diamond D remix of ATEEM's "Yeah" for a good while but i never managed to find any confirmation that it was actually Diamond D who made that remix. anyone know this and could clear that up`?
I too thought it was a Diamond-D remix, but I have no idea where that came info from, I even asked D himself on Facebook and he said he didn't remix it.

You are always welcome C.

I love Chubb Rock and Howie Tee was a great producer. I feel both of them don't get enough props for their contributions. I still constantly rock my Chubb Rock album, particularly "And The Winner Is", "The One" and "I Gotta Get Mind Yo (Book Of Rhymes)". "I Gotta Get Mine" has some great rapping on it. I know it has some of his more commercial stuff to but the raw stuff is raw...it's sort of his "Walking With A Panther"...

yeah I agree KB and I Gotta Get Mine Yo had a lot of great 92 production...always loved the U2 sample on "Some Ol Next Shit".

the mind and the one are about even

the songs on the one that are good are outstanding but its got a lot of filler that drags it down...ween it down to like 12 songs and it would be close to a classic album....in general chubbs albums are ridiculously long

the mind doesnt have the same highs but its much more consistent and its probably his best emceeing performance
