Thanks DS, didn't get the last batch but took these ones, very much appreciated.
Kool Keith: I wore a straw hat with a feather to the last Source Awards. When I got to Madison Square Garden everybody was looking at me. When I got back home I seen everybody and their mother in their video wearing a fuckinג€™ straw hat with a feather in it.

Tim Dog: ג€œWhat Kool Keith gonna wear? Iג€™m gonna do that shit in my video. Iג€™m gonna wear that shit really quick. Whatג€™s Tim Dog gonna wear?ג€

Back for another round...

Da Fat Cat Clique - The D.E.A.N.s List/Can U Feel Me?/On Tha Level (1997)
Image
http://www.discogs.com/Da-Fatcat-Clique ... se/1607710

Download: http://hulkshare.com/u4zpqbx68juj

Most of you are familiar with Philly's Fat Cat Clique, but this record has mostly gone undetected. The first two tracks were on their full length CD, but the 3rd joint, easily the best of the three is a hidden gem. They flip the "Black Cow" sample and feast on the mic. This one is a must hear. My only complaint is there are no dirty versions to be found.

Gold'en Smiles - We Got It/How We Roll (1998)
Image
http://www.discogs.com/GoldEn-Smiles-We ... se/1483990

Download: http://hulkshare.com/tw98y3lqcoug

Affiliated with Smoothe Da Hustler & Trigger The Gambler's Nexx Level Clique, Gold'en Smiles brings you an updated version of Special Ed's "I Got It Made". It's hard to fail with that track and they do a decent job with it. The B-side is generic 1998 NYC, but some people like that so...

Da Monsterous LRX - You Can't Run, You Can't Hide (1997)

Download: http://hulkshare.com/67vzg987p1np

A previously unheard record (to me), I can't even find a Discogs link for it. From the "I ripped it so I'll be damned if I'm not going to post it" Files, comes this blatant false advertisement of a record. You expect an artist who calls himself "Da Monsterous LRX" and drops a track called "You Can't Run, You Can't Hide", to bring it lyrically. Um, yeah, no. It's some straight up R&B bullshit. Even worse, it's on the level of Eric B's execrable solo effort. Valentine's Day is right around the corner, so if your girl digs horrendous R&B/Rap crossover rubbish, this is the record for you. Better yet, if you have some trifling ass ex you want to get even with, play this outside her window John Cusack in "Say Anything" style. Not only will you ruin her night but you'll also forever fuck up her hearing. I have nothing good to say about this record, but you've already figured that out. I will make it up to you on the next record, I swear...

The Mental I - Bring It/Recognize (1994)
Image
http://www.discogs.com/Mental-I-Bring-I ... se/1356633

Download: http://hulkshare.com/ckbehbp983dg

This is a pretty sought after piece, and one I don't think has made the rounds yet, though one of the joints may be on Youtube. I don't think it's quite as dope as people make it out to be, but it's still some raw '94 shit. The A-side is the winner here IMO, but both tracks bang.

Until tomorrow folks...

Good lookin' on those records, Mad Human. I been waiting 15 years to hear that Booga Lou record.

On to today's records.

Nex To Kin - When It All Started (1997)
Image
http://www.discogs.com/Nex-To-Kin-When- ... se/2184805

Download: http://hulkshare.com/tyzzv5yfsgmx

This first record is from a crew out of the D.C. area calling themselves Nex To Kin. I'm not sure if this has received the full rip treatment, but if not here it is. This G-funkish record isn't really my cup of tea, but I'm sure somebody out there will appreciate it.

The next two need no introduction, but again I'm not sure I've seen full rips of them so I'm bringing them out.

Ill Al Skratch - Summertime/Dr. Feelgood (1994)
Image
http://www.discogs.com/Ill-Al-Skratch-S ... se/1658163

Download: http://hulkshare.com/6xpq2xuy9mox

I always kind of liked the vibe of Summertime, though it really only has seasonal appeal. The B-side, everybody knows and loves.

Jay-Z - In My Lifetime/I Can't Get Wid Dat (1994)
Image
http://www.discogs.com/Ja%C3%BF-Z-In-My ... ase/307820

Download: http://hulkshare.com/i40qr4jxlp2k

What else can you say about this record? Jigga at his best IMO. Don't think I've seen a full rip of the Roc-A-Fella version which includes the original "I Can't Get Wid Dat" featuring Big Jaz & Sauce Money, and also the solo Jay version.

Now finally, I'm going to introduce you to something that you are probably unfamiliar with.

Big Shot - I Love This.../I Love This... Remix/Bonus (RU Ready) (1995)

Download: http://hulkshare.com/fgtuhf5ol34i

Comin' straight outta Jersey, Big Shot is eager to let you all know how much he loves this hip-hop shit. I know nothing whatsoever about the artist or the record. I picked it up from some dude in Japan like 10 years ago and I'm glad I did, because it's typical mid-90's east coast flava.

That's it for today, I have a few tricks up my sleeve yet, including something exciting for the grand finale, which will probably be later this week.

Alright, we come to the last round of vinyl rips.

Da Hurricane Holla Macwell - Laugh At U/Joox (1999)
Image
http://www.discogs.com/Da-Hurricane-Hol ... se/1690625

Download: http://www.sharebeast.com/ike8x4w6rxlt

Decent record, nothing all that spectacular. Hurricane Holla spit a quick verse on Bandit's epic "All Men Are Dogs Remix". I like the A-side slightly better, but the laughing over the track gets old quickly.

Dredfoxx - Gettin' Down Wit Da Verbs & Nouns (1994)
Image
http://www.discogs.com/Dredfoxx-Gettin- ... ase/447447

Download: http://www.sharebeast.com/hc2nlfmwyb4f

Some of you may be familiar with this, maybe not. A few mixes of this track, again nothing out of this world, but I don't think it's received the full rip treatment yet.

Remain D.L. - To Each His Own/Much More Than They Can See (1997)
Image
http://www.discogs.com/Remain-DL-To-Eac ... se/2375233

Download: http://www.sharebeast.com/7w9rbzy0nf8y

Always been a fan of this record, sucks that you only get clean versions, but two very nice mid-90's tracks.

and last but not least, the grand finale.

Lyrical Terrorists - Payback/Don't Worry (1995)

Download: http://www.sharebeast.com/4vrof0tnkzkt

A gem out of the mid-90's Philly underground, both tracks produced by Ruggedness. I would say most heads don't even know about this piece. The only Google mention I can find is Ed Catto talking about letting go of this record as being one of his biggest regrets as far as collecting goes.

Before you wipe the drool off your kicks though there is a caveat. When I acquired this record it was beyond dirty and just plain beat up. The sound quality on the A-side is more or less fine, but the B-side plays low and is a tad on the crackly side.

The good news about that is the A-side is the clear winner here, with the B-side more or less a radio friendly track. Payback is just dope as hell, and more than holds its own with the Philly underground anthems of the time. I might have even passed it by had I not remembered this quote from Bahamadia's "Uknowhowedu".

"Ruggedness, Lyrical Terrorists, Funky Rhymin' like E.B.S."

Anyway, enjoy. I hope to be back in a little bit to post some cassette rips, and I have some pretty good shit stashed away so you'll want to check for that.

Yeah I wasn't happy with how the Lyrical Terrorists turned out. I'm going to re-rip it tonight, without trying to take out any of the extra noise. It'll be crackly but it'll still sound better.

I liked the Remain D.L. The singing part less so, but a good track.

First joint up...

Brooknam Dodgers - Now Datz Brooklyn/Thug Shh Club Shh (1998)
Image
http://www.discogs.com/Brooknam-Dodgers ... se/3030814

Download: http://hulkshare.com/ja2ar5ws65c4

Don't know much about these cats, as far as I can gather they were out of Vanderveer Projects in Brooklyn. Typical late 90's NYC street shit, like you would hear Stretch play at the time. It's aight I guess but nothing really original or groundbreaking. The A-side wins here though. There's a misprint on the B-side label that says "Clud" instead of "Club" on one of the two listings, definitely should be "Club" though.

Deadly - Two - I Got More Flavas Den U/C'mon Wit Ya Bad Self (1995)
Image
http://www.discogs.com/Deadly-Two-I-Got ... se/1333311

Download: http://hulkshare.com/24fbz1cdnyni

Deadly dropped two records in '95. Kool'n I think came out before this but I'm not positive. He was down with Troubleneck Brothers and on some raggamuffin shit, he had lyrics though. Fairly decent record, both tracks are kinda dope, I prefer the title track myself. I-Witness comes through on the B-side to add a little flava of his own.

Til Proven Guilty - Make Way/Sun To The Moon/Let It Burn/All That I Know (1996)

http://www.discogs.com/Til-Proven-Guilt ... ase/328105

Download: http://hulkshare.com/p9qshtumymc0

This was another sealed one. I know nothing of this crew but judging from the massive amount of shoutouts on the back cover of this record to Queens MC's, I would say they repped Queens, or badly wanted to. Fairly average record for the time. The title track is the best of this bunch IMO, the others are just kind of mediocre. I'm beginning to figure out why some of these haven't been ripped/released yet.

Tone Kapone - Down For Mine (1998)
Image
http://www.discogs.com/Tone-Kapone-Down ... ase/934240

Download: http://hulkshare.com/xlssnve4n3fr

Kind of surprised nobody seems to know about this one. Only one track on this but it's a dope one. Def Squad's Kapone re-surfaced after a few years absence to drop this in early '98 and picked up where he left off on his '95 release. A quality joint no question.

That's it for today. Should have a few more up tomorrow.

I re-ripped the Lyrical Terrorists record. The quality is better, but nowhere near great. Like I said, this record is pretty beat up.

The new rip can be found here
