Why do you always need to link this kinda shit to your stupid blog? Why can't you just post the damn mp3s in the fuckin posts you make? C'mon, step son!

New York To Cali was a song i originally produced for Rakim in 1995.
This is a unreleased version from the same recording sessions.
Recorded @ High Class Productions, Brooklyn, N.Y. - Dominic Owen

thanks step.
edit.. is the producer saying this is also from 1995? Certainly doesn't sound like it. Sounds like he tried to do an updated remix.

Yeah, he is. On second listen you might be right. I'm always down to hear some different mixes of shit though. Especially tracks that havent been done to death already (Aint Hard To Tell & Shook Ones for example)bbatson1 wrote:thanks step.

I'm gonna leave this topic up for a day or so more, then merge it with the Blogs sticky.
If you're going to link to the mp3 in your post, that's great. If you want to cut-and-paste the entire contents of your blog post and share it here, that's fine too (Herban Lyrix and C7 do this often). Please do not simply paste a link to your blog.

I thought the track warranted a seperated thread tbh - its not like Im posting a link to my own mix or radio show or something. Dont see why people catch feelings over which link is used though - the dude emailed the track to me so I could blog it.
merge it now if its in the way

no one seems to have heard it before.
The guy behind it says he's got a few other things of interest he plans on dropping in the future - didnt let on anymore than that though unfortunately.

Just seems way to clean and high quality to be from 1995.step one wrote:no one seems to have heard it before.

Re: Rakim 'NY To Cali' unreleased version (1995)
its (allegedly) from the masters so the quality would be A1 if thats the case.
if you mean the actual production, as opposed to the sound quality, then yeah, I agree it does sound more like an early 00s type beat

Thanks for sharing, I like the more rugged vibe of this one after years of hearing the other version with the S.O.S. Band sample.
