I spoke with Stretch on the phone about the website he was trying to get started for archiving the shows. He has a few different ideas on how to launch it, either streaming, or archived, sponsored by other sites, or run on his own. The main concern is how to generate advertising or revenue, so it wouldn't be something that would cost him a lot to operate. My knowledge of website construction and operation is limited to blogger..

He was looking for help to get something launched and started soon, within the next few days, weeks, etc.. something to build off. I'm trying to reach out to web savvy people, and also coming here for some help, ideas and strategies. If anyone here would be able to take on this kind of project, or know someone who can, please reach out... different ways to generate revenue or advertising, kickstarter.com, having people subscribe, pay for a play, etc... Basically... any ideas are welcome at this point, from people who have knowledge in this area... different ways to be able to get this thing started. We can all make this happen...

Designing and creating a web-site is simple. How the material is sold [whether by 'donations' or not] and the general legislative issue, not so simple. Whether it'd be straight downloads or not is another issue, production costs etc.

A Netflix type vibe [Stretch-mix ?] would be the look IMO, worldwide, access to all files by paying a basic registration fee or a periodical subscription by month or year. The pay per play idea is good, but lets face it, most heads would want quantities, not single shows.

The ultimate release would be a DVD or USB for sale preferably on Discogs or EBAY. Something that would include artwork, photos of the period, stories, lists of guests, top 10s, scans of Bobbs show diaries, notes, any form of ephemera connected to the programme.

Both Stretch and Bobb will have connect to shed-loads of brands and labels with regards to the length of time they've been part of the industry, they could attract any number of financial interests from the Rap community.

The pair of them are, and the show was, an iconic enough part of Rap history that Stretch could sell ad space in his sleep. I know the show was niche, but compare it to a TV show character which started nearly 20 years ago, which has a movie release next month, these shows are 'cult classics', but for radio. There is an audience, and there is a bigger audience if its marketed well.

Me personally, I would want volume, even with the tapes I've traded, the shows you lot have shared and the tapes I own myself. I also have a suspicion that if Stretch was to make the shows available, he'd have them remastered from video to higher quality WAV or MP3 by now.

Stretch should set up a paypal account etc. for people to donate for this/make a fundraiser. I personally would be more than happy to throw 50-100$ right now. Maybe more. Even if there is no guarantee for this ever happening. He never got payed at the time, but the value of these shows, for me at least is priceless.

Great to hear Stretch is ready to make a move. I was thinking a subscription fee for unlimited access to the archive? Plus some donations to launch the site. Whoever donates in the beginning prior to launch doesn't have to pay a subscription fee? Just brainstorming.

On another note, I have a pause tape from 1993 with Supernatural. Bad reception at times throughout. Then a mix of a bunch of different freestyles. These tapes are all over the place. Clearly mixtures of different nights.Has anybody upped any shows with Supernat other then the KRS,Finesse date? I think Freestyles #5 had Nat on it but I lost all the freestyle tapes on my old laptop so I can't compare notes to see if the ones on this tape are the same, but they sound mad familiar. More to come. Honolulu.

as far as donations, kickstarter.com was discussed. how it works is people donate funds to a project, and it the goal amount is reached, then the money is used to start the project. If the goal amount is not reached, all the money is returned. he was saying that people who helped start the site could get special privileges, etc. Bobbito used this site to get his 'doin it in the park' movie started. Is this something that a lot of people here in the forum would contribute to? I'm thinking realistically how many people would actually come out of pocket to support this as opposed to just wanting free downloads. Definitely thanks to everyone with ideas

l do actually believe this Would do fairly well on kickstarter as long as the word is spread. It's not only the download aspect, its the preservation/historical part too. At least l think it would do well. like was said, Bobbitos basketball doc did very well on kickstarter. And it was dope, peep it if you havent.
l'd gladly help with whatever but dont know shit about developing sites.

most definetly Stretch & Bobbito is a gift that keeps on giving
til this day there are tracks on their shows that i have no idea what the name is, but if i hear it i know what it is but cant tell u the name.

i wish there were more video footage of the show out here. all i got is what was put on youtube. and thats rare within itself.

if anybody has that 1997 BET Rap City episode wit Big Lez hosting interviewing Stretch & Bobbito please holla at me! i have the actual show from the radio but not the episode that was shown on TV

Thanks! Never seen that part of the show. Only this clip where he appers for one second at the very end. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9vKAWft9k0 I thought: "that's stretch armstrong??!" :spidey:

Kickstarter is good idea. I personally swear to drop 200$ for this. If the site is proper i would be glad to drop that once a year.
