Hip House Joints - compiling a list
from my years spent browsing the forums I think the general consensus here is Nay on the ´Rapping over house beats´ topic. Nevertheless, I´ve found myself enjoying some cuts quite a lot

¿ the inevitable I´ll House You by the Jungle Brothers
And now I´m trying to compile a list of songs liek these three, whether they come from the late 80s or the 90s. If you´ve got some examples, please do share :)

Re: Hip House Joints - compiling a list
i got into Hip Hop around the same time as Hip House was big and loved alot of it I was too young to know the difference (9-10 years old) so it all sounded like Rap to me.
Main tracks I'd suggest would be:
Fast Eddie - Yo Yo Get Funky
Tyree ft Kool Rock Steady - Turn Up The Bass
Beatmasters ft Merlin - Who's In The House
Beatmasters ft Cookie Crew - Rok Da House
Loose Bruce - Feelin Moody
Toni Scott - Thats How Im Livin
Deskee - Let There Be House
Doug Lazy - Let it Roll & H.O.U.S.E
KC Flightt - Planet E
Monie Love - Grandpas Party (Love II Love mix)
Twin Hype - Do It To The Crowd
There's a DJ Spinna mix from about 10 years ago which was cool. I'll post it up if I can find the CD
also came across this but havent hear it yet.
DJ Ayres & Cosmo Baker - Hip House 1

Re: Hip House Joints - compiling a list
suggestions are greatly appreciated, Step! I'll take a listen now :)
Re: Hip House Joints - compiling a list
Let me know if you want any uploaded.
some of them might be a bit too Housey but they were definitely the big tracks around 88-90 (in the UK anyway). There was that trend around the same time for rappers to have a token house track (Kane, Special Ed etc) so maybe thats worth looking into.

Re: Hip House Joints - compiling a list
^^This is actually what I'm more inclined towards - the occassional house track that most rappers/groups either made or had somebody remix durign that time period. Queen Latifah's Come Into My House, one of De la Soul's Saturday remixes, etc. Cosmo Baker's mix actually reminded me of those so thanks again.
P.S. playing Hip Hosue 2 now and it starts with a house remix of Stetsasonic's All That Jazz - exactly what I'm looking for :)

Not sure how many song titles you'll be able to grab from this. but Wild Man Steve just posted a mix of hip-house tracks from the late '80s / early '90s that sounds like it's exactly what you're looking for.

Re: Hip House Joints - compiling a list
I wanted to once again thank everybody for the suggestions, some amazing stuff in between all of them in particular and most importantly - they pointed me towards many unheard and quality stuff. Here's what I've formed as an opinion after 3-4 weeks of searching and listening:
- most consistent hip-house artists - Doug Lazy (Let it roll, can't hodl it back, can't get enough, let the rhythm pump) and 2 In a Room (el trago, she's got me going crazy (todd terry bass mix), rock the house, take me away, Ahora). Toni Scott deserves a mention here as well. Shame to hear that he has MS, a farewell show will take palce in Amsterdam next month for whoever would have the chance to go
- great one-off hip-house tracks by various artists:
Sway and King Tech - Let me See you move
Jungle Borthers - I'll House You
Queen Latifah - Come into my house
Simon Harris - Bass
K-Yze - Stomp
- dope hip-house remixes
Queen Latifah - Come Into My House (45 King Remix +Orbital Dub Remix + Orbital Vocal Mix - all dope)
Chill Rob G - Make it (Midnight Vocal Remix)
De la Sould - Saturdays (Dave's Home Mix)
Stetsasonic - Talkin all that Jazz (Dimitri from Paris Remix)
Chubb Rock - The Chubbster (Clark's Smooth Haus Mix)
- terrible hip-house artist - a dude from Baton Rouge, Louisiana - I forgot his name though. I tried to listen to his music but maybe it just wasn't for me. I have no idea what his name was though
EDIT: forgot to mention that Twin Hype's album is dope as fuck as well!
