Just wanted to nerd out with a correction, the show from 1997 with Necro (and when they play portions of a Red Alert tape), is dated May-15-1997, I'm pretty sure the right date is April 17, 1997.

That 'Freak the Funk' I think you're talking about Mannish - Expect That

HUH? - Verge did ID the second one on your youtube 2 years ago.
This is a demo called Akira by Schizm (formerly G Knight from Da Grassroots). He rhymed on that crazy Drama/Living Underwater 12" and then on the Grassroots album, he had a solo song called "Black Dove" that was just ridiculous ill. If anyone has any contact info for this guy, i would love to put this on vinyl for yall along with some other demos from him on my Heavy Jewelz label.
after Mr. Live and Tony Bones

Choke? - Ghetto Scripture demo?

Where are the Freestyle Files, Phenomenon, Ordeal and Clip (http://www.discogs.com/artist/231633-Brassmunk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)? demos, Bob is talking about at the end?

I think all them shows was partly or fully IDed by the SnB OGs here years ago.

Thx for the reup of Bomba's part.

Yes, Verge chimed in with Schizm - 'Akira' for the 2nd one. I forwarded quickly through the .mp3 and was thinking of the Soul Dwellas – 'Whateva' track which is clearly now ID'd.

They are the ones who inspired me the most to move past Hip Hop and go into other forms of music back in '93. I remember the diverse selection of vinyl Bob used to have at Footwork. I look forward to hearing the audio.

If I was them, I wouldn't focus on playing rap records neither.
They went out as champions just like Michael Jordan first retirement.
You don't want to come back as a Washington wizard. Their legacy is sealed!
I am sure their taste of music evolved too. Stretch doesn't play rap at his djaying gigs.
I think it is mostly electro-dance. Bobitto plays a lot of funk, latin jazz etc.
It is better for them to develop a whole new audience and move away fom past glory.

Here's an exception:

From the Chopped Herring Records site:

Image

"As seen on the recent Noisey profile of the new documentary (noisey.vice.com/blog/stretch-bobbito-doc), Stretch & Bobbito's show on Columbia University's radio station played a remarkably influential role in the 90s hip-hop scene. Many artists have expressed this sentiment through songs and interviews, but none have gone quite so far as the OG Aborigines. The group's debut album Rice Krispy Treats is a tribute to the golden years of Stretch & Bobbito's time on the air, and is a testament to the long- lasting appeal of the show. With modern rhymes over vintage sounding instrumentals, Squires (the producer) and Rapswell (the MC) conjure up the feel of the best moments at WKCR. The albums 11 tracks feature neck snapping beats reminiscent of the legendary songs that were played on the station: Large Professor, DJ Premier, Buckwild, and Q-Tip all lend inspiration to these tracks, but Squires has a style of his own. Rapswell is likewise an accomplished wordsmith, and the duo adds on to the top notch material they put out this past July when they dropped the PEN PALS project on Chopped Herring Records. Rice Krispy Treats is an album that will give longtime fans of Stretch & Bobbito a nostalgic kick, and give people just learning about them a chance to catch glimpses of the 89Tec9 experience, through the various audio clips strewn throughout the LP..."
