OK, I got some new ones for you to check out.....
-Universe-Demo:
http://rapidshare.com/files/253098159/U ... mo__98.zip
I got this demo on a cheap Sony tape in ג98. It has three cuts, which are all good. On the inside גcoverג there are two names (Swayze & Alex) and numbers are written...and that pretty much sums all I know about this group. I sort of remember calling Swayze at least once to tell him I liked the demo and I was playing it on the show. Not sure whatever happened to them. "As Simple" is my favorite cut on the demo. Itגs just ill. The song starts off with no real structure. The beat is just a גmonotonousג but funky loop. .For the first verse he is just freestyling but he does it with so much style. After the freestyle the loop just plays on for while and then he comes back in with some more random lyrics and then he finally drops the chorus. From there it seems to officially become a גsongג. Itגs the uncertainty and oddity of it all that gives it more charm. However, the rhyming is abstract and intriguing. the song seems to only end because they ran out of time...itגs perfect, ha. It sort of reminds me of some East Of The Rock flavor. The other two tracks are גDown Comes The Rain, Out Comes the Sunג & גEarthboundג. Iגm willing to bet he did some other music, heגs probably in some other group that I know and Iגm just bugging out. I feel like that because there is something familiar about him that seems to go beyond this demo but I canגt put my finger on it.
-Off Da Wall-Demo '97:
http://rapidshare.com/files/253098156/O ... emo_97.zip
Off Da Wall is Smoove One & Rem Raf. "Get Bizzy", I first heard this joint when they performed it live on Time Travel. Itגs a fresh joint with them just flowing back n forth spitting high energy and hi speed flows. Smoove Oneגs style is more based on punchlines and Rem Raf was ridiculous with the word connections. "ON Da Regular" is more chilled vibe but still on point with the rhymes. This song is that type of rap that "new yorkers" loved then...or so my ears tell me so...ha. I don't know who the guest is and i'm not sure why there is two versions... The last cuts is "One After Another" and it's back to the more aggressive approach. I always thought they had flavor and whenever they came to the station (Time Travel or when I would catch them on 6 Feet Unda with Vaughn C) they would kill it with freestyles and/or writtens.
Hereגs a lil history on the crew. I actually met Smoove One back in ג93. I was doing promotion work for Delicious Vinyl and I had Masta Ase (w/Lord Digga & Paula Perry) in town to promote Slaughterhouse. I had hooked up in-store autograph signing at a Hip Hop record store (forgot the name??) that used to be in Evanston (where WNUR was). Smoove One was there and wanted to rhyme for Ase. Usually thatגs always a waste of time and the MC sucks, but he was dope and caught us off guard. He was in a crew called Badderize Knot Inkluded and I ran into him a few more times when I was doing my promo runs. I never got my hands on the Badderize Knot Inkluded demo but Iגd like to hear that. Anyway, it was just a few years later in ג96 when they came thru Time Travel and hit me with the 4767 joint (which Iגve posted here before). All Iגve ever heard is whatגs on those two demo tapes, but they never stopped making music and are still doing their thing.

Mack A Damien Thorne-Looks Like Reign
http://rapidshare.com/files/253098155/M ... _Reign.zip
This is a early Molemen project. They had done some stuff before this but I think this is the first גbiggerג release that they invested in. They were releasing a series of cassette EPS/Maxi Singles and this is one of them. Itגs 3 joints with the 3 instrumentals on the flip side. Mack A Damien has a real unique voice and his style is a mixture of battle raps and a swift flow. All 3 cuts a good but "Sucka Duck" was always my favorite. The third verse is his best. He comes in with, גIגm elevating, while youגre stuck at the ground floor, while (Iגm) still raising hell high, plus knocking down doors...ג. The beat has that perfect 90s vibe with some crisp drums, with the occasional rapid fire snare, and some hypnotic horns. The other two joints are flavor as well....
Not to long after this they had some sort of falling out (if I remember correctly) and didnגt work together again. After that Iגm not sure what happened with Mack A Damien Thorne. Iגd be curious to know if he had any other unreleased joints (I have one with him, Rhymefest, & Undertaker over the "how we chill pt 2" beat before it became that classic track with Juice...).

The other ones here are all Chicago but this tape is from Portsmouth, VA. I don't even remember how I got this. Probably got mailed in for a Caught In The Middle Demo review I guess. It's a fresh joint from the lyrics, productions to the Del vocal sample. There's multiple versions of the title track and then a bonus track, "Excel"
I think I included the artwork (where applicable) in all the zips but if any are missing let me know and I'll post them up.
-DJ Pumpin Pete A.K.A Supa Cuts-Blue Groove Lounge All Stars Mix Tape
http://rapidshare.com/files/252938233/P ... rs_Mix.zip
Pumpin Pete is one of Chicago's illest DJs without a doubt. He's nice all around from the blends to cuts. This is from '97/'98 and covers a wide range of stuff. There is plenty of scratch breaks of him getting illy...the Supa Cuts name isn't a figure of speech...ha. Pumpin Pete was killing it in the 80s (in the group T.A.P, in DMC battles, etc...), in the 90s (various clubs and shows as well as with his crew Undaground Soulution). He was also nice with the production and was also known to get on the mic a little. He had some material tht I think Delicious Vinyl would have been Fiending for...ha. Anyway, enjoy the mix.

This demo has 4 tracks: End Of The World, Burn In Hell, Day Before Yesterday and Wet Daddy (which is at the end of tape and cuts off...)

do you happen to have any more tracks from them?
I've seen a promo tape of their album on ebay once (went for $16), but missed the auction and i've never seen it again since then.

Yeah, good look on these, kev.
The first Mack A Damien track, "It Looks Like Reign", damn that shit's a banger!
The horns sound like the same horns that Godfather Don used on a few joints.
Matter fact, with the sleigh bells and everything, that beat could definitely pass for a Godfather Don production.

here's an unreleased Black Moon track called "Air Tight". this is a completely different song than the one with the same title released on the War Zone re-issue. got this from a mister cee mixtape, so the q is not that good. i know this was put out on vinyl with a couple of other unreleased joints in 1999 if i remember correctly. I wondered if anybody got that 12" and could upload a better version of this...

So, I was reading an interview with Gauge(who's now a Christian rapper)
over at Werner Von Wallenrod's Humble Little Hip Hop Blog.
http://wernervonwallenrod.blogspot.com/ ... rview.html
In the interview, Gauge states that he was part of a group called Roughneck Bastards with Phantasm or UG and another cat.
Check the interview out, it's pretty good.
Anyways, Midnight Marauder was asking about a track from the 11-18-92 rip of the Stretch n Bobbito show.
So, in going through the show, I found this freestyle by the Roughneck Bastards.
Gauge rips the first verse, Phantasm does the 2nd as Starchild, and I'm not sure who is on the 3rd verse. But in the shoutouts, I'm pretty sure I
can hear UG's voice.
Also, at the end of the mp3, Bobbito states that he has a tape from them and says that he'll play the track next week.
Anybody gots?

Kev, I'm kicking myself, I accidentally felted the Epicentral EP and would really appreciate a re-up...or if anyone could do it, Mad Propskevin beacham wrote:here's a few new joints;

Not sure if this is out there but I taped it off the radio in Chicago back
in '87/'88. They were calling it "Philosophy Night" to promote the
upcoming 12" and video. D nice is on the wheels. The set is:
1)Up To Date
2)Stop The Violence
3)Dope Beat
4)Still #1

Epicentral-I'm pretty sure this is unreleased. They are a crew that did this whole EP with JEL on production. It's pretty ill. I'm also pretty sure it got most if not all it's play on Time Travel. I actually have the ADATS for these tracks because they felt they would be safe with me...and so far that's true...ha. I'm not sure what happened to them or why this didn't come out officially. Earatik Statik-Enta Da 3rd Rail
http://www.sendspace.com/file/tyr25q
track listing:
1)American Defector
2)Child Malesta
3)Exposed
4)Juiceless
5)Get Fucked Up
6)Poetic Justice
7)Underground Railroad
here's what I wrote about them on the time travel blog:
Earatik Statik have been rocking it for a long time in Chicago (Rogers Park). I first connected with them in the first year(s) of Time Travel which is when this track came out. This is from a double-cassette released they did called גEnta The Third Railג with 7 cuts. This track addresses a lil beef they had with Juice at the time. I canגt remember all the details but Iגm pretty sure it has something to do with the fact they also referred to themselves as גThe Third Railג (plus itגs the name of the Release) and thatגs something that Juice used to refer to himself as also. I think Juice made some comments about it during a freestyle at one of his shows and/or maybe from the crowd at one of their shows (because they make a reference to גsomeoneג trying to sabotage one of their stage shows). Earatik Statik responded not only with some shots in גExposedג, but also got a cut on the same release called גJuicelessג. On גExposedג they drop jewels like גthey walking around town talking this and all that about how they freestyle so dope and their demos so fatג and I assume the גlying about where the f**k they fromג line is a reference to Juice growing up in LA (although he says he was born in Chicago but left young and came back as a teen). גJuicelessג get more direct to the point and is an all out diss song.
Anyway, diss songs arenגt a focal point of their career at all. They have a gift for writing thought provoking tracks and ill stories. Plus theyגve work with an amazing cast of artist. Their new album, גThe Good, The Bad & The Uglyג drops on March 17th and features Sadat X, Sean Price, ED O.G., S.P.O, Production from Pete Rock and so on... The also will be hitting the road for a tour around the same time and their live stage show has long been one of their key assets so check them out if they come thru your way. These are real good dudes and I still build with them on the semi-regular and Iגm glad they are still doing their thing and making quality music.

Ok, finally some updates from me. Thanx for everyone else with keeping this thread alive!
First up, a couple things out of Dallas. In the mid 90s when Me & J bird were doing Caught In The Middle magazine one his connections for getting the mag in stores was Baby G (because his promotion company worked the Mad Flava record) who worked at a record store in Dallas. As a result we got hit up from a decent amount of underground crews there with demos.
-Distortionists: This is still one of my favorite demos from a group that never released anything (well, at least far as I know). The crew is Massive, Soule, Jigsaw, & Kwasar, who all rhyme (Kwasar produced 4 of the 5 beats, "Dope Compensation is produced by someone named K-phix). There's five cuts Retaliation (which is what I played the most), Lyrical Rush, Dope Compensation, Bombardment (a Massive solo joint which is my 2nd fav), and Geographics. This demo is from '96. I talked to Kwasar a few times back when I got this and they were planning for more releases for sure, not sure what happened. I did check for him on myspace about a year ago and found him but never hit him up....I should do that still.

-Example-Impusles EP: The next tape I got from Dallas had the K-otix on one side (Spontaniety EP prob about a year before it came out) and the flip side was Example. Honestly I was so impressed with K-otix I never really peeped the Example that much. I kind of stone cold fronted. I just relistened to this when I ripped it and it's actually pretty solid. Discogs says this came out on vinyl in '97 (but limited to 500 pieces only). There's 6 tracks (+ intro & outro): 7-26-96, The Strive, Slow Motion, Endless, Recollect, & E.T.A.. Actually now that I relook at the tape, the Example demo is the A-side....
http://rapidshare.com/files/279795874/e ... pulses.zip
-Perspective Sampler: Man, the guy at Perspective was really feeling me...ha... Or they just were in the business of giving out all the music they had via samplers. I just found another one. This one has the Solo "Heaven" remix (that has been discussed here a bunch and I think I posted it before). Another Mr Blaq song called "Magic". However, the crowning jewel of it all is 3 additinal Black Spooks songs!! "Mad Black Spooks, Whatcha Wanna Do, & Why (which is really fresh!). All Of this further showcases that these dudes were more than likely going to have a pretty hot album!
http://rapidshare.com/files/279795619/P ... ler_96.zip
Aight that's all I got for now. I'll try to drop some more jewels when I can. Also, I know I've been fronting on that Kool Keith thing I mentioned before...I just got sidetracked on ripping all the tapes and everything, I'll get back to that real soon. Peace

Thanks for coming through once again, Kev.
to see you back.
Downloading now and will listen immediately.
I would love to have this on vinyl.
Apparently 500 were pressed.
The last 2 times I saw it on discogs, it was $470 and $400 and something or other.
Anyways, I remember first hearing the "Slow Motion" track off the Nighttrain
with DJ Eli on WKCR. Had been looking and wondering what it was until being online.
If anyone needs samples before dl'ing this one-

We also included the same "Slow Motion" track on the 1st Volume of our
Moaning compilation and mix series-
